I like your plan except the part about cut bait with Clausen. His contract is cheap and we can afford to keep him to add competition and see if he ever turns out to be worth a poo. He can be the 3rd qb on the roster for a while and he's not gonna eat us up cap wise even if we draft Luck and get a vet QB.

If they've played in more than 9 games, they're not eligible for the practice squad. Clausen has played in 12. Learn the rules, gain some credibility. It might even work for a Saints fan.
