Philly Gov. Ed Rendell rips NFL's decision to postpone SNF game

who made the decision to delay the game anyway? NFL Officials?

edit: lol wow, what a weird decision, just read about it... postponed the game without any snow accumulation, and there wasn't even a foot on the ground when the game would have started...

Why the hell couldn't they just have flexed it to an earlier time or unflexed it? Anyone know what time it was postponed? Maybe not enough time to move it earlier to 4 or whatever.

there was at least 10 inches of snow when the game would have ended. driving conditions would have been absolutely awful coming from the game. people would have to dig their cars out of the lot, it wouldnt be plowed anywhere and it was whiteout conditions.

they couldnt move it to another time because of TV. NBC has to get a national audience and have no other competition.

The reports were that 95 and all major roads were cleared with limited congestion. Just saying

They projected a crazy blizard and got a typical winter snowfall...continuing the movement of the NFL morphing into a pussy league from the general public perspective

Yes, the fans had a choice as to whether they would risk the driving conditions at the game. However, you also need to think about the players, officials, stadium works, and other personnel that didn't have a choice to be at the stadium that night. If the storm was as bad as predicted, then it would have been hell for those people (that had no choice but to be there) trying to get home.

As far as moving the Super Bowl goes, it is the NFL's own dumbass fault for letting if be played in a city where those conditions are likely to occur.

i dont know about 95 but i was out in south jersey (where we will say 45% of eagles season ticket holders live) and it was pretty bad driving at 8pm. there was no congestion because people were advised to stay inside. and 11 inches of snow isnt typical winter snowfall.

dont get me wrong, i wanted them to play sunday night, it would have been awesome to see the conditions they were playing in during the game but from a safety prospective (of the fans & stadium workers) they couldnt do it. unless they found a way to keep the parking lots closed pretty much MAKING people take public transit (the subway system wins in philly) but...

He doesn't present his argument eloquently, but he's correct on all fronts. The USA has become an incredibly lazy nation, our sports are becoming soft, we're trapped in this politically correct environment and we're getting away from the independence and freedom America was built on. Have the game. If people see it unsafe, they'll stay home. They don't need big brother to make them stay home.

Look at any list of top average IQ nations. You'll see the axis of evil at the top along with a couple asian countries. USA doesn't come in until around 20th. Also China beat us at the olympics.

Actually, at the 2008 Summer Olympics, the USA won the total medal count with 110, with China coming in 2nd with 100 even.
