There is one game left on the season, we have 2 wins, and we've locked up the first round pick. Normally I wouldn't look too far ahead, but I am. Its almost time to start looking at the team and finding out who is expendable, and who we can build the team around. I'll highlight a few expendables in bold.

QBs:

Jimmy Clausen (debatable, but does anyone think hes getting cut??..no)

Keith Null- out

BSP - out

RBs

Johnathan Stewart- safe

Mike Goodson- safe

Tyrell Sutton- out

FB
:

Tony Fiametta

Rashawn Jackson-
out

Receivers:

Steve Smith (possible trade...)

David Gettis- safe

Brandon LaFell- safe

David Clowney- out

Armanti Edwards (see Jimmy Clausen)

TEs
:

Jeff King-
out
(ill take heat for this)

Dante Rosario-
out
(hes althetic, but I can see it happening w/ a new coach)

Gary Barnidge (my favorite, but I could see him)

Tackles:

Jordan Gross (see Clausen and Edwards, although I dont think hes expendable)

Rob Petti- out

Geoff Schwartz (id keep him around)

Gary Williams (not sure)

(id consider everyone but Gross expendable, when i sit back and look at it.)

Guards:

CJ Davis- out

Mackenzy Bernadeau (hes expendable, but id consider keeping him for depth)

Centers:

Ryan Kahlil (extend this guy!)

Chris Morris (who?)- out

DBs:

Cornerbacks

Chris Gamble (see Clausen, Edwards, and Gross)

Richard Marshall (if his asking price lowers, keep him, otherwise---
out
)

Captain Munnerlyn

Robert McClain-
out
(Im thinking as our new head coach w/ last 3)

RJ Standford-
out

CJ Wilson-
out

Safeties

Charles Godfrey (see Clausen, Edwards, and Gross)

Sherrod Martin- safe

Gerald Alexander (see Chris Morris)

Jordan Pugh (id keep him)

[THE]Marcus Hudson-
out

Linebackers:

James Anderson (see Ryan Khalil)

Jon Beason (see Khalil and James Anderson)

Nic Harris-out

Abdul Hodge- out

Jordan Seen (mostly likely out, but id stash him on the practice squad later)

Defensive Tackle:

Nick Hayden (Of course he's expendable, but if he hasn't been booted by now...)

Corey Irvin-out (is he even still on the team??)

Ed Johnson- out

Derek Landri (id keep him)

Andre Neblett (idk...probably out)

Defensive Ends:

Eric Norwood- safe

Tyler Brayton- safe (but you never know...)

Greg Hardy- safe (hes going to get PAID in a few years)

Charles Johsonson- (see Khalil, Beason, and James Anderson)

Kickers:

Rhys Lloyd- If He can't kick field goals hes useless imo, Kasay can only kick so far...

Kasay- safe by default

Injured Reserve:

Everette Brown (DE)- (see Clausen, Edwards, Gross, Gamble, and Godfrey)

Dan Connor (LB)- safe

Charly Martin (WR)- out

Matt Moore (QB)- out

Jeff Otah (RT)- safe (I don't want to hear it)

Tony Pike (QB)- out (It won't happen though)

Duke Robinson (RG)- out (he'll get another shot somewhere)

Hilee Taylor (DE)- out (does anyone remember this guy)

Travelle Wharton (LG)- safe

DeAngelo Williams (RB)- (see Khalil, Beason, James Anderson, and Charles Johnson)

Jamar Williams (LB)- out (I think...)

Jason Williams (LB)- out (who?)

Wallace Wright (WR)- out

Note: I started this early this morning and had to email it to myself (wasn't home), to transfer and finish, so If I screwed up, let me know, and tell me what YOU would do.

new coach could easily be the end of Kasay's career.....either Kasay choosing to call it career himself or the coach giving him no choice. I don't see the next coach continuing the "kickoff specialist" tradition we recently have gone to. New kicker next season.

only ommission seems to be Thomas Davis from your list.

pretty spot on, The kicking situation will be adressed in the offseason with a new regime. We will either have Kasay or we won't.

it is obvious we are gonna have to bring in some journeymen and frankenstein an OL, which is actually good since it obviously worked for us before and won't be as big of a hit in terms of salaries.

The one thing I would do though is keep our LB core as intact as possible so that would mean keeping williams. We have great depth there imo and either additions from the draft or FA will lock it in.

I agree, our LBs are a good core. We have some good starters in Davis, Beason, Anderson. Conner is an above average backup for beason. Although Jason Williams didn't play alot this year, the couple of games he was in there he made some big plays and is worth locking up for a few years. Others like Williams, and Harris will provide us with additional depth and special teams.

Our special teams has been pretty good this year and I would think keeping most of those guys together would be a good idea.

    • Just bring Ev back. Get good players and stop making it so hard to build something consistent. I understand this board’s fetish for a 4-3, we had a bunch of great defenses running one, but nobody ever had a good defense under any scheme with a roster this bad.
