Everybody (Forum Enthusiasts) outside of Carolina thinks we should keep Clausen....

we should keep clausen but that doesn't mean we still shouldn't pursue an instant upgrade. If luck comes out, great we got our QB. If not, we need to rely on FA to pick up a QB that can do better than any of our QB's now. then we can pick Green or a DT

why is that? I have read many sites since we locked up the #1 and the common argument people are making is for us to keep clausen (since he is an unproven rookie) and build around him in the draft to help him out. Why do people believe we should pass on Luck (if he comes out), only to get alot of draft picks and build around Clausen?

Probably because if your kid is able to read in the first grade, graduates into the second grade and is not able to read any better during the entire year of second grade an actually reads worse, do you say your kid is an idiot or do you blame the teacher for not doing thier job?

That is the deal with Clausen. He was a pretty good QB in college, everybody can admit that. He comes to Carolina and suddenly he looks like poo and is regressing. Is that because Clausen became an idiot or is the coach not doing thier job?

Throughout the past couple of months, I've been reading those message boards who say Carolina is not going to pick Luck because of Clausen. They would write things like "You really think the Panthers are going to take Luck when they already have Clausen, lol" and "Clausen was playing on a bad team, he is the Panthers franchise guy" etc. If they believe Clausen is worthy enough to pass up the chance to draft Luck, how would they feel about a trade in exchange for their team's 2nd round pick. I bet you will hear what they really feel about Clausen then.

With all that said, those fans just want a chance to draft Luck for themselves. All this talk really amounts to is jealousy that Carolina is about to pick up potentially a great QB for years to come. To be honest, after years of Carolina being in the shadows of the league (even when we were winning, we are the ninjas of the NFL), I kind of like the attention we are getting.

when i was referring to "everybody" i was talking about casual sports fans of other teams. Not sports writers.

Sorry, but from what I've heard and seen, I'd say "everybody" is way, way, way off.

There are a few who think it'd be better to stick with Clausen. The vast majority would take Luck in a heartbeat.

Now if you'd written "everybody hopes we don't get Luck", it would have been a lot closer to the truth.

Clausen plays exactly like he did in college. That is the problem. That doesn't work in the NFL when there is no talent gap between teams isn't as big and NFL defenses flat out take away plays that work in college.

Please don't think that I am advocating passing on Luck, but I think that Clausen's biggest issues right now are shitty coaching and poor play calling.

Thats because they don't pay attention and are attached to the name, and how he was projected to go #9 in the draft, not in the second round.

Also if anyone actually watched him game in and game out, you would realize he is terrible.
