Yea that Vikings postgame coverage was ridiculous. It was all about how 'the Vikings didn't show up today' and then it was Favre drama with Childress. Nothing about how we thoroughly dominated an '09 favorite on prime time. It makes sense to media outlets. Certain teams (and players) make more money than others so why bother with those that don't?

National Optimistic Panther coverage -> http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcsouth/post/_/id/16926/losing-doesnt-diminish-panthers-role

Jaw dropped when I saw someone defending us, especially because it's Yas.

Very nice read.....the Panthers have not lost their fan base and I can see it at every home game. As far as the media ignoring us; nobody wants to cover a two-win team (unless of course you are Dallas)....I can remember the '03 season and the mega-attention that we were getting on tv and the papers.

JR is in the drivers seat for an incredible turnaround but we will continue to be sub-par unless he comes off the hip this off season.

The media is giving us no respect and rightfully so because we have the worst team in the league this year, but they do give respsect to richardson as a former player. He did get alot of praise, well wishes, and respect when he had surgery not too long ago. We also dont have the history of these other teams like the boys, gmen and vikes. give it time. the cowboys buy publicity anyway.

We lost a nice chunk of it though...

I wish the national media/espn would get their facts straight about us for once instead of randomly spitting out stuff.

Let's look at the flipside.

Who gave an airborne rodent's buttocks about Indianapolis prior to Peyton Manning?

Now that he's there, the Colts are in the national spotlight.

Not saying that's a reason to draft Luck, but if he is drafted and he's a superstar, expect the Panthers to get plenty of national attention.

With the way our owner, GM, and Coach did their jobs this year, and how awful our players performed, I wouldnt cover us either. It was embarrassing.

1. Owner- Lets dump all our good guys so I can get more cash

2. GM- Lets continue to look like idiots trading and getting abused by the Patriots in the draft.

3. Coach- Lets sign a stay at home daddy, and not give our 5th rounder Pike a chance to play. We'll let the guy thats practiced for 2 days play, but not the guy who went through camp, and all the practices....

4. Players- Jeff Otah was supposed to be back for week 1. He allowed a twisted knee turn into a season ending injury WTF. O-line- we know how to do look out blocks. QB- Lets through checkdowns or INTS which do you prefer?

    • I'd give it a C mainly because of Brooks.  If we just didn't have a 2nd I'd argue B to B+ tbh. Brooks was a bad gamble, tho one that could still pay off long term. Yes XL only has 400 yards but... Look who is throwing him the ball. And I think he isn't a "true #1" but he's been able to consistently get open. Hands definitely need to be cleaned up.  But he should end the year with 500-600 yards. Like you said - Sanders looks great.  Get him a better QB / more time with a QB and I think he's gonna impress. We added a couple rotational players on D that have both made plays and show promise for the future from later rounds. So I'd say, Brooks really hurts this drafts grade. It'll be interesting to see how it progresses over the next 3 years. I've overall really liked Morgan's FA acquisitions, so...
    • Oh he would absolutely flourish. It’s the panthers way. It’s no different with coaches. Sometimes they reach their expiration date, go somewhere else, and find new success.  Similarly to Burns, how long to wait for the light to finally turn on?  Market forces will demand a salary that the panthers can not responsibly match. Sliding him to guard will fit his skill set better, but he has played LT for 3 years. He will receive offers from other teams wanting to pay him LT money.  At guard, he won’t start with what they have paid Hunt and Lewis. Center then?? Dunno. Maybe? He will become a backup by default once they draft their stud LT. I doubt Dan just stands pat. That’s not his MO.  So where does this put him? Can you match what other teams will offer for a backup LT/guard? Do you dish out franchise LT $ on a guy who still needs significant improvement in pass protection. This team will be DOA in the playoffs with the very first team who has a formidable speed rusher. What if he has hit his ceiling in pass protection already and they sign him long term? It’s a big gamble either way.
    • We're in a great position to see just how big of a misstep it would be, having made so many ourselves
