If you want Luck, Harbaugh is the key

We hire Harbaugh, and those odds go waaaay up.

the only situation I see us virtually guaranteeing Luck coming out is if during the second week of Jan we announce Harbaugh as our head coach.

I just don't see that happening, so I'm turning into a negative ned until Luck announces his decision.

I think we have as good a chance of getting Harbaugh as anyone.

Doesn't mean it's a certainty, though.

I also think the "Michigan" possibility is ploy for Harbaugh. I wouldn't be shocked for us to land both.

I don't know much about Harbaugh as I haven't seen a single Stanford game (will be watching the bowl game) but would assume he'd be an offensive minded coach so would Harbaugh be inclined or at least consider keeping Meeks on staff? I like Meeks and think this long term plan for this young defense is working. We just need a high profile, first round quality DT in the 2012 draft (assuming we take Luck and have no 2nd round pick in this draft.)

WOW! THIS IS GOING TO BE AN EXCITING OFF SEASON!!!

I don't think so. Meeks run D is not very good. He does a decent job of getting our boys get a decent pass rush. But when your team can't stop the run half the time. That means your offense stays on the bench to long. Meeks needs to go and bring in a much better DC who has a good past of stopping the run and pass on a regular bases and not just once in a while. Also why would we have to wait until 2012 draft to get a high profile DT in the draft . If Harbaugh would some better scouts then he could find a high profile DT in the 3rd of the draft in 2011 or maybe in the FA market.

I'm not sold on wheather Jim Harbaugh is a NFL ready QB or not. The past 4-5 years other NFL teams tryed to take top notch college HC and give them a chance at the pros as HCs like the Fins and the Skins and they all failed. I just have a hard time believeing it can happen just like that. I wheather want a proven winning NFL HC like Cowher to be HC instead. I also see getting Jim/Luck right now is about 30% chance aleast for another month.

I'm not sure there is anyone who wants us to draft Luck more than me.

As just a die hard Panthers fan I want Luck because he is just a rare talent at that position, he is the game changer that doesn't come around often. He isn't Alex Smith, Matt Stafford, Sam Bradford, he's not the guy you draft hoping he reaches his potential and is a franchise QB. He is a Peyton Manning, Eli Manning, Matt Ryan, the guy you know is going to be your QB for the next decade plus and do great things.

But I have plenty more reasons than that for him to declare and be drafted by the Panthers.

I'm from Michigan, grew up a UofM fan and I've absolutely HATED Clausen ever since the way he announced he was going to ND. Drafting him was the worst thing that I've ever experienced as a Panther's fan, worse than the SB loss, and my friends still give me crap over it because they know how much I hate him.

So drafting Luck gets rid of Clausen, there are probably other Panthers fans out there in the same boat as me with that one.

But I also went across the country and went to college at Arizona, and next year we'll have the best football team we've had since the late 90's when we were NC contenders. I REALLY don't want to see either Luck or Harbaugh next year as we play Stanford. I don't see either coming back without the other, just not going to happen.

So as an Arizona fan alone, Luck going pro and Harbaugh leaving as well is the optimal scenario for me. But like I said, there may be Luck fans out there, there may be Clausen haters out there, and there may be Arizona Alum Panther fans out there, but I highly doubt there is anyone out there that is all 3.

JR needs to go out there and pay whatever it takes to get Harbaugh, because if he does, Luck comes right along with him. Most think Harbaugh has what it takes to be a good NFL coach, but some don't, WHO CARES!!!!!!!

I don't think this would happen if we got the pair of them, but even if it did. It would be completely worth hiring him, getting Luck, still being a bad team for the next 2-3 years while building the team through top draft picks, and then getting a great coach to go along with a seasoned Luck and tons of talent around him.

So in short

PLEASE DECLARE FOR THE DRAFT ANDREW LUCK, YOU ARE MY SAVIOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Years ago, the Houston Oilers hired a new HC from the Canadian Football League. It was Hugh Campbell of the Edmonton Eskimos. Turns out that the Eskimos also had a much-coveted free agent QB named Warren Moon who soon also signed with said Oilers.

Campbell was fired about a year and a half later... if that.

However, Harbaugh is the real deal. The whole world seems to recognize that. Will the Panthers?

Honestly how much is Harbaugh gonna cost? who is the top paid coach in the NFL?

Belichick

SHanahan is up there close to him, Carroll signed almost the same deal with the seahawks. Harbaugh may be thinking about getting that same type money which might leave us out since it's more than we paid Fox this year.

Ummmm does anybody else not want to rush to throw our head coaching job at a guy who spent one year as the Raiders quarterback coach?

Can you really hold that against him? There can't be one member of their staff who isn't hampered by their senile overlord of an owner.

He seems like the real deal to me - you know with all my armchair ownerness.
