Andrew Luck staying in school? (Peter King Rumor)

Meh...

Not a big deal imo.

1. Not a lot of underclassmen players saying "im goin pro after the bowl game! Cry moar (insert school here)!

2. Harbaugh knows who's looking at him & this could easily be read as "granted, this is just a belief. For another 2-3 mil as an NFL HC, my belief could change."

3. I really don't see Newton staying in & while I prefer Luck, I ain't gon be mad with Newton.

4. If Luck likes him a lil chocolate, I know a girl that has an ass that rotates on its own axis.

Never again will Luck's draft perception be as high and never again will he have a chance to be drafted No.1 overall. His opprotunity to play in the NFL is now (immediate future, this year next year) he can always go back to Stanford and get a degree. He can take spring and summer intercessions that wouldn't be too time consuming. Shaq went back to LSU and finished, so going back to your orginal university is an option.

In reponse to the "who was the last concensus No.1 overall pick to go back to school"..my answer would be Peyton Manning. He was considered by far the best player and possibly the first pick when he was a jr. He went back in hopes for a title/heisman trophy.

Stanford has Luck and a bunch of seniors that are all gone after this year. Next year they don't crack the BCS 25 and even if he does pretty well his stock will plummet. Even if he genuinely wants to stay in school, he'll have plenty of slimey agents talking him out of it. We'll be fine.

I think it would be really stupid of him not to come out.

His stock is super HIGH right now. We were the worst team this year, but we honestly aren't that bad. You give us a QB that's a bit more solid (Luck), a new coach with some attitude, and we're a decent team next year. The year after that, probably back to playoff contention.

I honestly think we're a great #1 "picker" so to speak. Who else is going to get it next year if he waits? Bills? Bengals? Browns? Seahawks? Etc. I think we have FAR more going for us than those teams.

I wouldn't get it at all if he stays.....

Carolina's not feeling Lucky this morning.

I heard reliably earlier in the week that Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck, the unquestioned top prospect in the draft should he choose to bypass his final two years of eligibility, was thinking about staying in school rather than being this year's Sam Bradford. As I said on NBC last night, Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh told me he thought Luck, a redshirt junior, was leaning toward staying for a fourth year.

I said to Harbaugh Sunday that I'd heard the Luck family (his dad, Oliver Luck, is a former NFL quarterback) was concerned with the fact that drafted players, because of the prospect of a protracted work stoppage, might not even see their playbook or start practice 'til Labor Day -- or later. If that's the case, why wouldn't Luck stay for his fourth year at Stanford and play, whether Harbaugh (who is rumored to be a candidate for both pro and college head-coaching jobs after turning around the Cardinal) is there to coach him or not?
