The Panthers are on the clock...

I do :D

I will say that if Luck does come out, I expect an offseason full of tortured Panther fans diagramming Hurney's sentences, analyzing the tense and origin of every single word and generally trying anything they can think of trying to get a clue as to "what he meant by that" :sosp:

We need to remember the cap room. Re-sign DeAngelo, Johnson, Kalil, and a few role players. Add a DT and an OLmen.

Now, how many picks do we need? Our problem is not quality depth at many positions. On D, we need a DT and a CB. On offense, a QB and maybe some OL depth.

Why do you think we'll pass on Luck?

3 reasons.

Money

More picks

QB draft percentage sure Luck might be the next Peyton Manning or he might be the next Ryan Leaf. Think Hurney will play it safe and trade down to pick up A.J. Green or Nick Fairley. Depends on what QB's are available in Free Agency I also expect Palmer to be cut this offseason and we will pick him up. So we will have our qb along with a nice addition to either the Defensive line or Wide receiver corp.

Willing to bet that. I can see us trading down to a top 5 pick.

We could get a second rounder and a first rounder next year to trade down to the fifth spot.

So, it comes to this: Andrew Luck vs. Cam Newton, a quality, second tier DT, and a first rounder next year.

Luck would garner this kind of price.

Would I do it? No.

Luck has the best chance to be great. A great QB is worth three great players at other positions. Newton is going to be good, but maybe not. Luck has few questioning.

First... money is not an issue with this franchise. Enough of what transpired this offseason to all of the sudden declare the Panthers/JR is cheap.

Second, passing on Luck and should he become the next Peyton Manning would set this franchise back many more years than any other scenario. Even compared to the possibility he does become a bust.
