We need new STARTERS on the O-line...

We are hopefully not losing our draft scouts. In previous years we have done very well evaluating and drafting oline. (Though Duke seems to be a whiff) I mean lets look at the guys we have developed and drafted in recent history.

Geoff Schwartz - 7th round guy has developed into a legit starter at RG and a decent fill in at RT.

Garry Williams - Undrafted yet he was starting for us. Huh?

Mackenzy Bernadeau - Another late late pick who we found.

Travelle Wharton - 3rd round pick for us that has done pretty well.

My point is with a healthy Otah and Wharton we will have decent depth. A backup RT/RG is our only real target.

Guys i believe we are looking at are

Matt Reynolds, BYU

Darius Morris, Temple

Joseph Barksdale, LSU

meh, they'll be fine. we just need to get the guys healthy and pick up an OG that can start in FA and also improve the depth.

new game plan and playcalling will help out the oline as well as a QB the guys on the line want to fight for and a QB that is a real threat who can punish the defense for blitzing so much.

Yeah, I think Gross is on the wrong side of 30, so we should be looking for a viable replacement. I like Otah if he can stay healthy, get a good swing tackle to back up Otah and Gross/New LT. Resign Kalil, and keep Wharton at LG. One chance to get a very good, young guard passed when Mankins stopped his holdout.

This....

This is not the first time we complained about our O-line play. And the season after complaining about same O-line they came back and dominated.

Coming back healthy, intact, and if we can have a QB that requires respect from the defense and can make opposing defense pay they can be successful.

When you are a threat to run AND pass the ball it changes how the defense can attack you.

You are buying a name only with Faneca, the guy hasn't played a decent level for years...

he can still play at a solid level and he wouldn't cost much more than vincent if at all. He'd be a nice bandaid until a player from the 2011 draft could step in.

Nobody would expect him to be all pro but if you plug him in between Kalil/Otah he'd be able to contribute certainly.

Schwartz has been our best line man in the run game other than Kalil, he has also been our best lineman in the passing game.

Do you honestly want to just replace him with a band aid?

This year Faneca has given up 24 pressures, 5 hits and 1 sack and has played his entire career at LG. He is not what you want in a RG, especially when you have a player playing far better than he is already entrenched in the team.
