Christmas Wish List of Roster.

28 your a pretty smart fella. Your one of the few on here thinking outside the Luck Box.

I mean it is fairly logical that the FO will attempt to make up for the AE and Brown trades by trading down. It also makes sense that the next coach will be asked to make the Jimmy pick not look like yet another mistake. Smith and Dwill are expensive players that we have depth at the positions. I don't think the FO wants two QB projects. I think a vet and upgrades at DT, replacement CB, RG and a young number 1 WR to grow with the project QB we already have are on the radar more than people want to think.

1. I don't even think Luck will declare

2. We might not get #1 pick

If we don't get #1 pick or Luck I would go with WR AJ Green or DT Marcell Dareus with the #2 pick. Both are damn near guaranteed to be studs. I have barely seen Luck play anyway.

For coach I'd like Jon Gruden, Ron Rivera, Ron Meeks, Jim Harbaugh (take would guarantee we get Luck), ....errr....I'm sure there are plenty I forgot.

:cool:Christmas list for this roster?

Free agents:

James Jones or Jacoby Jones, WR

Marcedes Lewis, Owen Daniels, or Zach Miller at TE--I'm not picky

Barry Cofield and Brandon Mebane at DT

Mike Pollack for offensive line depth, guard and center specifically

Paul Oliver for defensive back depth, possibly starting safety

Another low profile defensive and offensive lineman to compete and hopefully contribute

Billy Volek or Shaun Hill to be a veteran

In the draft:

Andrew Luck

Offensive line and cornerback depth and bpa.

Done.

If Luck does not declare and we don't fix our QB problem another way...we may still get Luck #1 overall next year. Clausen could still actually get us Luck next year too! There just won't be any fans in the stands to see it except the 3 Clausen/Panther fans on the planet.

Clausen was hardly the Panthers biggest problem.

Clausen was hardly the Panthers biggest problem.

A lot of QB's can still make plays in bad situations... that what they do. I've seen Bradford make plays behind a O-line that's not better than ours, and Wr's no better than ours. I've seen Rodgers make plays behind a O-line that is no better than ours. I've seen Ryan F. in Buffalo move the ball and put up points with not a great offense....

Yes it is true that not every play is not his fault.... But touching the ball every play he has had opportunities to make plays or show some promise!!! He hasn't. QB is the most important position in this league now and he is showing he is not our long term answer to get us to the superbowl.

So you think Terrell Owens and Steve Smith are going to work well on a team together, along with a rookie QB?

Is Myron Rolle even an active player in the NFL? Last I heard he was on the Titans practice squad. So you think he should be starting over Sherrod Martin with Godfrey keeping his job?

Isn't Carriker with the Redskins right now? He was traded to the Redskins specifically because he wasn't working out in the 4-3.

Is Glen Dorsey a free agent at all right now?

Confusing choices.

I think my dream roster basically tries to follow Hurney's whole motto of "building through the draft". I'm only addressing positions through FA that we have severely neglected in the draft like TE and DT. I'm also addressing the severe weaknesses like QB, DT, and O-line.

I don't know who the new coach will be so basically I'm just going to extend Fox's philosophies to the next coach.

QB Andrew Luck, Kerry Collins, Tony Pike

This is assuming Luck comes out. Hopefully he'll be the "can't miss" prospect instead of the greatest bust ever.

While Collins may bring up bad memories, he has considerable experience, is comfortable as a backup, and will not be as expensive as a guy like Hasselbeck. With our running game he'll do just fine if he needs to start. He's one of the best clipboard holders you can have. It's like having an assistant QB coach.

RB Jonathan Stewart, Mike Goodson, Leon Washington, Tyrell Sutton

As painful as it may be, be not resigning Williams that could free up valuable cap room for another position. I'm really on the fence about keeping him. You can't keep him and lose somebody like Kalil or Davis.

By signing Washington we let Goodson step into a full starting role. May seem like a luxury but he's still cheaper than Williams and we've lost 1 or both of our backs at once these last two seasons and needed a 3rd option.

FB Tony Fiammetta

If we have a FB at all I think Fiametta stays, it's a hard position to truly master.

WR Steve Smith, Brandon LaFell, David Gettis,, Wallace Wright, Armanti Edwards

I think Smith stays. Trading him would leave a huge hole that whatever compensation we get can't fill. He's not in his prime like Jenkins or Peppers either which means his value is only getting lower. Being over 30 with a big contract JR would have cut him this season if they didn't value him.

I think LaFell is the more complete WR over Gettis right now but overall they are pretty simmilar. They've been open this season but the QB play has been abysmal.

I think Wright makes the roster as a 4th option and I have no idea how Edwards turns out but we can't cut him this early. Anything he brings is a bonus.

TE Zach Miller, Dante Rosario, Jeff King

Miller is a complete TE so if the QB situation is stable he'll have a reliable target and if it isn't we'll have a solid run blocker to lean on. His contract won't be ridiculous either.

OT LT Jordan Gross RT Jeff Otah

I think both Gross and Otah are fine tackles for whatever offense we run, on their good days. Gross isn't consistent and Otah is injury prone but they are both 1st rounders with big contracts. I don't think we look for a fallback in FA. I think the 65th pick in the 2011 draft will be an OT.

OG Travelle Wharton and Alan Faneca

I think Faneca is a solid combo with Wharton. He can't be All-Pro on his own anymore but playing in-between Otah and Kalil I think he'll look All-Pro. He also wouldn't break the bank.

The line has been good in the past, they just need a pick-me-up until the players we will draft in 11' make their way into the lineup. Signing a guy like Nicks would be pretty cool but really we need resources elsewhere.

C Ryan Kalil

He's without question our highest priority, we can't franchise tag him but we also can't afford to lose him.

On Defense my wish would be for Meeks to stay. The defense has been playing lights out and at the very least we need to stay in our 4-3 cover 2 we have going.

DE Charles Johnson, Greg Hardy, Mark Anderson, Everette Brown, Eric Norwood

I think Brayton is on his way out. His contract isn't too bad but that whole elbow to the face and the fact that he's not spectacular makes him expendable.

Brown and Norwood are the edge rushers with Hardy, Johnson and Anderson filling the other roles. DE we are pretty solid. Johnson is the bluechipper we can't afford to put a big name at DE. Johnson needs to be that guy.

DT Brandon Mebane, Barry Coefield, Derick Landri, Andre Neblett, 4th round draft pick.

This is where we spend some serious money since DT is by far the biggest need in the draft. This would put the defense at #1 in the league in my mind.

OLB Thomas Davis, James Anderson

These two guys won't be cheap but they should also still be reasonable.

MLB Jon Beason, Dan Connor

Dan Connor is cheap and talented so unless he wants to be traded to start somewhere else we should keep him. Jon Beason deserves an extension but we could let him play out his rookie contract and franchise him should things get dicey.

CB Chris Gamble, Champ Bailey NB Captain Munnerlynn

I could go all sorts of ways here. I think this is the most ideal. I would love to get Bailey. I think Marshall is gone.

FS Sherrod Martin

He's playing great no reason to replace him. Pugh is looking like a solid pick. as well.

SS Charles Godfrey

He's blown coverages but he also gets INTS, hard hits, and fumbles in his career here. Right now I just hope he gets better with some defensive tackles on the team.

considering that roster looks like it could compete for a super bowl what makes you think Steve Smith would still leave?
