It is now mathematically impossibly for Cin to beat us in SoS!!

It is now 100% mathematically impossibly for Cin to beat us in SoS!!

Here is Why…..

Currently the Carolina Panthers opponents have 129 combined wins and the Cincinnati Bengal Opponents have a combined 133 wins giving us a four game cushion. Taking a look at the remaining weeks schedule assuming every game goes Cincinnati way.

Week 16

DAL @ ARI- Arizona Wins – Car +1

NYJ @ CHI – Chicago Wins – Car +1

WAS @ JAC – Doesn’t matter

DET @ MIA – Detroit wins

NE @ BUF – Doesn’t matter – Cin +1 (They played both teams)

BAL @ CLE - Doesn’t matter Cin +1 (Cin+2,Car+1=Cin+1 over Car)

TEN @ KC – Doesn’t matter

SF @ STL - Doesn’t matter – Car +1

HOU @ DEN – Doesn’t matter

IND @ OAK – Oakland wins

SD @ CIN – Chargers wins – Cin +1

SEA @ TB – Doesn’t matter – Car +1 (Sea wins +1 for Car, TB wins +2 for Car +1 for Cin =Car +1 either way)

NYG @ GB – Giants win – Car +1

MIN @ PHI – Doesn’t matter

NO @ ATL – Doesn’t matter – Car +1

So at the end of week 16 at best for Cincinnati their opponents would have won Only 1 more win than Carolina opponents. (Currently Cincy opponents have won 4 more, plus a net of 3 they can pick up if everything goes their way week 16)

Week 17

MIA @ NE – Doesn’t matter – Cin +1

BUF @ NYJ – Doesn’t matter – Cin +1

CIN @ BAL – Baltimore wins – Cin +1

PIT @ CLE – Doesn’t matter – Cin +1

JAC @ HOU – Doesn’t matter

TEN @ IND – Ten Wins

OAK @ KC – Doesn’t matter

DAL @ PHI – Doesn’t matter

NYG @ WAS – Giants win - Car +1

MIN @ DET – Doesn’t matter

CHI @ GB – Chicago wins – Car +1

CAR @ ATL – Carolina wins – Cin +1 (Carolina has to win to force a tie breaker)

TB @ NO – Doesn’t matter – Car +1

SD @ DEN – Denver wins

ARI @ SF – Doesn’t matter – Car +1

STL @ SEA – Doesn’t matter – Car +1

So in week 17 even if everything goes Cincinnati’s way they will not gain any ground on us in terms of opponents wins, at best they can break even. Since Carolina would have a 1 game SOS lead entering week 17 it will be impossible for them to catch us in terms of SoS!!!

At this point Denver is the only team who can acquire the #1 pick other than us. SoS is 100% irrelevant at this point because Cincinnati cannot catch us, and we cannot catch Denver.

Man this poo confuses me. So if Denver beats Houston, we are locked in right? If we lose to Atlanta we are also locked in no matter what anyone does. If we beat Atlanta the only team who can take it would be Denver, but they would have to lose their last two games. So right now we are locked in at #2 at least. Is this correct?

I think Denver is going to win vs. Houston.

as long as we lose we get the #1 pick. Simple. Why make it harder than it needs to be?

Because it's not 100% we will lose. If NO loses to Atlanta, then it would make a lot of sense for ATL to rest starters. In fact I am pretty sure they would, its what NO did last year and I think they benefited from it. Hell, if I was ATL I would purposely lose to us after beating NO to keep Luck out of the division. That gives them 2 great reasons for resting their starters/and losing.

Once we accept winning our last game then everything starts to matter and gets confusing.

I just want Dever to beat Houston, then none of this even f**king matters and it will be the earliest we will be able to celebrate a #1 pick that will be traded by Hurney after Luck declares. :D

Yes if Denver beats Houston we have Clinched the #1 pick... Nothing else would matter.

Correct again, if we beat Atlanta the only team who could overtake us is Denver and that is assuming they lose both of their last two games.

Correct again, Right now we and locked in at no lower than the #2 pick, and the only other team who has a chance at the #1 pick is denver.

We can't let Alt do that to us. Throw the game Jimmy. (lol I mean play like you been playing)

Correct me if I am wrong. You have Buffalo vs. New England, for example. You say Cincinnati played both teams, and I think they did, once each. You have a Cincinnati +1. However, it should be a wash because one of the teams they played will improve their record and one will drop. With only a 4 game differential and 2 weeks to play, there are too many games that could influence the record to say it is locked up. I could show you 4 this week that would offset a 4 game differential. Maybe I don't understand.
