Universal whine about Clausen thread

Here is a take on the future of Clausen and why he must go:

If you read ESPN.com and the local newspapers, listen to local sports talk radio, watch ESPN or local sports TV...whichever it is, collectively they have given up on Clausen. The chatter about Clausen is mostly negative. Like it or not and whether or not it's fair...people (casual fans) believe what they read and hear. Die Hard fans who study football and watch the games already know that Clausen is a failure...now even casual fans are aware of it. :(

Even if the fault lies partially with his coach, his o-line, his receivers, etc...doesn't matter. Most fans opinions frown negatively on Clausen.

Now, even if the team want's to give Clausen the benefit of the doubt, and have him start all next year...they can't. :ciappa:

The NFL is a business. JR owns the Panthers and needs to put people in the stands and sell merchandise. The team itself needs to put out an exciting, fresh new look towards the general public. Something that will generate interest (and sales) like no new coach or first round DT or CB can. That new and exciting Panther entity can really only be found in a brand new,one of a kind, limited edition QB named Andrew Luck. :yesnod:

This is a team that, in it's history, has trotted out Rodney Peete, Chris Weinke, Jake Delhomme, Matt Moore, and Jimmy Clausen. They have shown they do not care what the media thinks, for better and for worse.

so we shouldn't bother trying to get a better QB in here?

I've told you several times in several threads, yes. But the love affair with Luck doesn't mean he'll be the greatest QB ever. I'm sorry to disappoint you.

And if he doesn't come out, do you like others suggest we tank 2011 too, so we could maybe get him then? Here's a novel idea...maybe another quarterback would do well for us and our entire future doesn't hinge on Andrew Luck. Maybe he isn't the answer. Maybe he is. But it is NOT guaranteed.

I didn't say that, did I?

Look the only people that think Clausen will amount to poo in this league are ND fans and NCAA videogame players. Anyone with a brain sees he has never been anything but hype.

no in is saying he is guaranteed to be, but he is the best chance we have at having a respectable and elite QB here.

btw...i also advocate getting newton here if luck isn't an option. both of those guys are far better candidates than clausen or anyone else we have around here. in fact there may be another one or two QBs in the draft this year that will have better careers than clausen.

and no, i don't advocate tanking. i do believe that sticking with clausen is the best way to assure an early pick in the following year.

he is not the answer, nor is anyone on the roster. imo, the sooner we get someone to take over at QB the better.

just because luck has a chance at failing doesn't mean that we shouldn't pick him up or stick with the garbage we have here. this team is never going to become a dominant force in the new nfl until it finally realizes that you have to get an elite QB. just because we failed with clauesn doesn't meant that we should quit trying either.

I've been gone from the Huddle for a while due to Holidays and such and I come back to this and all I can say is...................................friggin brilliant!

I knew the Huddle would come around.

Do you ever have anything to say that does not involve your hatred for Clausen or your worship of Moore? Ever? I feel sorry for your wife, if that's the case. Especially if you call her Matt.

at this point, I'm on the draft any QB available with the first pick (which means anyone) bandwagon. I don't really care who it is, as long as we don't have jimmy clausen under center next year.

I agree, if we don't get Luck...we have to get somebody...Clausen is NOT the answer

Let me start by saying I was not impressed with Clausen in college.Having said that our team was not where a rookie QB wanted to be this year. Why they let Vincent go baffles me.How they did not seem to know Otah would not even play and not sign a tackle baffles me.If I were Luck I would stay in college if I had to play behind this years panthers line.I do not think Clausen was or will ever be a great QB but feel the anger and frustration should be directed at the Panthers mgmt.not Clausen.
