Roethlisberger could show Panthers a new QB path

drew brees was good, but he didn't become top tier until he signed with new orleans.

they took a chance with him coming off of surgery, so who would have known he was going to be elite?

Most fans that support Hurney think this way.

The exact same thing could be said for Peyton Manning coming out of college, there is no sure thing. The only sure thing in this league is that if you don't have a good QB, you will not win consistantly. We have not tried to draft one, trade for one, or groom one since Hurney has been in charge. (outside of Clausen)

When you see "great defensive" teams taking QB's in the 1st round (pitt, TB, Baltimore) you can see that the tide is turning.

You know what, forget it, keep him, lets draft Mark Ingram, or another God Damn Linebacker in the First.

what?

i don't support hurney...or any gm for that matter. i'm also not saying carolina shouldn't pick up an above average qb. the statement was carolina hasn't been in a position to pick up a top tier qb.

look at bree's numbers from san diego...he was good...good enough for the chargers to draft phillip rivers and try to oust him. the only reason why brees was there as long as he was was because rivers held out and no one was going to give san diego 2 first round picks for brees since they tagged him.

the failure to aquire a good qb is no different from the failure to find a top tier wr.

...and on the flip side, no one was complaining when carolina signed david carr or matt moore. both were attempts at a good future qb. unfortunately, both were failures.

I don't want to get started on the San Diego talk, I know the situation very well. What I also know, is that teams that want to be good, or stay good realise how important the QB position is, and they figure out a way to address it. Got Brees...draft Rivers....Got Favre....draft Rodgers....

Being able, or in Hurney's case willing to go after a top tier QB is sooooooo much different than getting a top WR. QB is the most important person on the team, including the coaches and FO.

If Matt Moore and David Carr is your answer to a QB problem in the NFL, then you don't need to have the words General Manager in front of your name.
