Exactly. There are SO many more ways to get new players beyond blowing up the only decent thing about this offense.

Wtf? Are you really implying that somehow having a good running game precludes us from being able to have a good passing game? With a new OC, Andrew Luck at QB and maybe a FA WR, our passing game will be fine. None of that has anything to do with having good RB's.

Besides, the whole idea that running teams can't win is horse sh*t, IMO.

But its nice to have, and it doesn't mean will be run first. It means we keep a stud running game while developing into a pass first team.

We know we have something great in DWill & Stew...so why risk trading them for a dud, when you can take the same risk by a FA signing, draft pick, or a trade for another player in the NFL. I'm in full support of being an all around stud team and that includes having a great running game while developing a passing game.

I just don't understand the logic of just trading away one of them in hopes that we'll instantly become a solid passing team next year. I'd rather have them as a safety net while developing a strong passing game, which we hopefully will be with a new coach, qb, and supporting cast next year.

You're allowed to be deep as a porn star's vagina...but as I said earlier, can we afford three studs? We need to make sure the rest of the team is just as good as the RB corps. D-Lo and Stewie are going to want top dollar. I think it's only wise to let one go. Keep one, Goodson to #2, then sign a capable #3. Then use the money you would've used on D-Lo/J-Stew and bring in somebody else to help this team. Having three studs at the RB spot is a waste of another roster spot somewhere else.

The question in the thread is whether or not the three of them will be on the roster next season, not forever. We can absolutely afford the three of them because Stewart and Goodson are still signed to their rookie contracts. We may have to cross this bridge of "affording three studs" later on, but right now the only one who will have a big contract is D-Will if we resign him. We actually can have three stud RB's on the roster next season for a bargain price.

We have tons of cap space. One big contract at RB won't keep us from signing talent where we need it. And no, having three studs at RB is not a waste of a roster spot somewhere else. We're going to have three RB's active, period. How talented they are has no bearing on that fact. If you're going to have three active then what's wrong with all three of them being great, especially if only one is expensive?

williams made just over $2 million this season. stewart, goodson, and sutton combined make roughly $2.5 million.

keep in mind, the only reason goodson has gotten playing time is because sutton has been hurt almost all season.

sutton has flat outright outplayed and outperformed goodson before getting hurt.

that's why he wasn't traded.

Good points. My answer was more about immediate impact & future, but I see where your coming from. I just don't think resigning D-Will is going to be incredibly pricey, so the bigger question will be what do we do when Stewart's contract runs out or he wants a bigger contract. Then we have to make some moves in the RB dept.
