I think it would be worth a shot. I agree that we would need to get a draft pick too to even it out. But, damn...it's better than nothing. IF Cassel(sp?) is really as good as he looked this year then it would be a fair trade considereing Peppers will soon be on the downside of his career.

Why do you people treat the "Patriots System" like it's something from God? NO, I don't want to trade Pep for Cassel but damn, people...it takes a good quarterback to be a good quarterback. You all act like Bret Basanez would have 4000+ yds over there with 30 TDs. No way in hell. Just admit Brady and Cassel are good QBs already and stop acting like New England knows something no other team knows about some magical "system" to use with a QB.

I agree.

People are quick to say Cassel is the result of a system, but nobody said that of Tom Brady.

While I think the coaching and the surrounding team have much to do with both Cassel and Brady's success, you can't deny they are both good quarterbacks.

People have said that about Brady actually. But the fact is, he put up numbers with crappy receivers too (see 2006 season for example). Then when they got Moss and Welker, his passing stats all of a sudden went off the charts. I don't think that means that Brady all of a sudden became a "better" quarterback in 2007.

As for Cassel, for the 2032309290820820th time, forgive me if I'm not ready to throw Peppers and a 55-60 million dollar multi year deal at a guy who hasn't proven himself outside of one year within the revamped Pats system. Of course I'm guessing the same people making this argument probably did the same with Derek Anderson last year. And they probably would be the same people that would be bitching if the move didn't work out.

      And you can see him going through his reads. Really good at standing tall  surveying the field. I even saw a few plays where he guided the safety away from his intended target.
