At least the Panthers games have meaning

I mean, if we were 5-9, would you feel any better? Would the next two games have a silver lining at all? At least now the outcomes of the next two games could lead to the next Elway coming to Charlotte-supposedly the best prospect since Peyton Manning came out last century.

I suppose that is why I have no problem losing now to win big later. I mean, looking back, I didn't like getting dumped by girls; it hurt (at first anyway-I got used to it after a while). But the thing is, I married a wonderful woman who never would have met me had I not learned about myself through getting dumped nor would I have been available when she came along. So it worked out. At least we know who is around the corner, and it is a franchise QB, something we have never had. Losing can't hurt at all if you know we are one or two losses from getting a QB scouts say is a can't miss prospect, a combination of Marino, Elway,and Manning.

We need to lose to win. Luck can take this program farther than anyone else. He would give the franchise instant credibility and a face. New Orleans needed a Brees, Indy needed a Manning, NE needed Brady, Green Bay needed Favre, and Pittsburgh needed Big Ben. It takes a top QB to make it to the top.

I want a Super Bowl banner; I am not interested in having the biggest pecker in a little dick competition. As much as it hurts to say this, I hope the Panthers lose 2 games in order to win 12 next year.

Can we calm it down just a tad? This is turning into a borderline cult. The kid's great, and I hope the team gets him, but it's stupid to hype anybody up this much. Can we make some kind of deal? How about if we get the first pick and he declares, we all have a week where we say hyperbolic statements about the guy.

As long as starters aren't sitting out you guys really have nothing to worry about. Did you ever really worry this year we wouldn't lose? So far all our wins were pretty much predictable after the first few games. None of our wins were upsets or surprises, they were both against the next two arguable worst teams in the league. Steelers and Falcons are two of the best. We will lose both games. We will be fine.

You have to consider potential, and these are not my words, they are the scouts' opinions. Find a negative write up on this guy and I will show you 100 that sing his praises. If you pass on him and he becomes what the scouts say... Bottom line is this: There is an underlying assumption that first round QBs tend to bust. I have said before that I would never draft one for that reason. However, when was the last time you have seen a college QB garner unanimous apporval from the collective body of NFL scouts? Every year there are asterisks and "howevers'. Even Peyton Manning was not as highly regarded. The last QB I can recall that had this much approval coming out of college was John Elway. Brady was the 199th pick, Brees too short, Ben R. not mobile and small schooler, Manning not mobile and some would have chosen Leaf, Rivers has a funny deliver, Favre a stupid gunslinger, Young not mature, Bradford injury prone, Marino slow and no mobility, etc. This guy has an above average arm and makes all the throws. Good size and is tough. He reads quickly and is a quick study. He has speed. He is a natural leader. He has no notable injury history. He is humble. Where is the flaw? That is why I don't need to calm it down. This is a prospect --nothing more--but perhaps the best overall QB prospect to ever enter the draft, seeing that Elway played baseball and had knee issues.

Please find me the write up by a respected source that claims he is a combination of Elway, Marino, and Manning.

Please show me the source that says he gets us to twelve wins next season.

Please show me the source that says he is the greatest quarterback prospect of all time.

No weaknesses? He has a lack of experience, plays in a Pac-10 that is constantly criticized for not playing defense, and wasn't the focal point of the offense for one of his two years.

Look he's a great prospect and I hope we get him. But you are building yourself up for a mountain of heartache if we don't get this guy. He might not declare, or we might not get the top pick of the draft. There are others players and there are chances he might not work out if we do get him. Ease back the throttle.
