Video of Hester's Record Breaking Return

Which 75 more returns can be had between 2-4 seasons.

Hester had 47 returns in his rookie season!

42 in his second season.

Then teams stopped kicking to him and he started working on the WR role and his returns dropped to 32 and then 24 last year. He has 30 so far this season.

I think you're trying awfully hard...

I know how many returns he had which is why I said he can get 75 returns anywhere between 2-4 seasons. Theres nothing to dispute about that. You just gave more detail to my estimate.

Your only "argument" is an assumption that Hester's production will decline dramatically as far as yards per return go over the coming years.

As of right now, there is not a Punt Returner in the history of the NFL that is or has been better than Devin Hester.

Deal with it.

No my arguement is that longevity to go along with a high average is more impressive. I said nothing of Hester declining in the future. I just gave an estimate of how long it would take him to get 75 more returns. Sustaining a high return average over a long period of time is very hard. Punt return average usually decreases over time the more the returner carries. Right now Upchurch is still the best Punt Returner in NFL history. Only .1 of a yard behind Hester with 75 more returns (equilivant to 2-4 more years). Billy Johnson right now is also more impressive than Hester as he's only .4 of a yard behind Hester with 107 more returns (equilivant to 3-6 more years). Hester can be considered the best if he has the same production anywhere between 2-4 years from now. This is all just factual information.

I'm pretty sure neither of the other returners mentioned in this thread impacted the return game like Hester, people kept kicking to them. hester scares opposing teams on every punt and kick that he has a chance at. Hester revolutionized the position to where team such as the Dolphins went after guys like Ted Ginn jr that they were hoping would have the same success etc. anybody trying to argue that Hester isn't the greatest ever has no clue.

Hester has about the same average number of returns per year as other greats. He didn't revolutionize anything. Guys like Billy Johnson, Upchurch, Mel Gray, Brian Mithcell, Deion Sanders, Gale Sayers (here's a guy you can say started it) did. They are why teams started to look for an ace on returns. Alot of teams are looking for return guys now, not just the Dolphins and certainly not because of Hester, because a good returner is hard to find. At least look at the stats, and not just touchdowns, before calling other people clueless.

My bad KK maybe I shouldn't have phrased it like that and we agree to disagree on this subject, Merry christmas!
