It is in the Panther's best interest to make reservation for Alshon Jeffrey, whether he comes out next year or the year after. I rather have him than AJ Green. But anyway, I do agree wholly that Gamble is a great corner. If Asomugha doesn't opt out of his contract with Oakland, we should make a trade for this guy. (Packaging Marshall with that deal)

Most of our problems can be solved by a great free agency period. We know Mankins is coming out, give him the money and he is all but a lock to come here. The right side of the Panthers have been swiss cheese all season. (We never replaced Andrew Vincent at RG, and Otah was out all year) So the left side eventually gave out as the season wore on, and especially so once Wharton went down. Bad QB play has also contributed greatly to the O-line woes. Clausen in particular bailing out too early from the pocket and holding onto the ball too long is the reason why for most of the sacks. So fix the right side of the line and the rest will fix itself.

Like I said, a good free agency period will turn this team around in no time. Had we kept alot of our guys this season, our record at worst would have been 7-9. Add in guys in the off-season, we will be a great team again.

Honestly, I would seriously consider cutting Gross this offseason if it wouldn't hurt us...Look hard at a LT

My problem with FA/Drafting WR is that if we go that route, Steve Smith or AE will be gone soon after. Don't mind if AE is cut honestly.

WR - Smith is a #1 and if you don't think so gtfo. Watch the games, the man is wide the f*ck open all the time.

Safety - Godfrey is fine as a starter and will thrive when we get a DT who can pressure the QB. No idea why anyone would want Pugh to start over him...Pugh has shown nothing to suggest he is ready for that. Also, Marcus Hudson has actually done a good job as a reserve S in addition to tearing it up on special teams.

CB - Guys...there are only so many Revis', Asomugha's and Woodson's in the league, and not every team gets one. Gamble is not a shut-down corner but he is top ten. He rarely gets beat and, again, when we have a legitimate pass rush in place our secondary will look great. Gamble is absolutely a #1 corner. As much as people like to hate on him, Marshall is good too and it would be to our benefit to re-sign him if we could go it inexpensively. If we do let him go, I'm of the opinion that Captain could be a full time starter. If not, we can draft or sign a #2 corner and be fine.

Wow. You are rather condescending because we don't see the points you don't make. I see what you mean, but I disagree.

Steve Smith is a great player and could remain a #1 for another year-maybe. He has lost a step and he is small. He has dropped a lot of balls this year. Most teams play him man under with a safety over top. He may look open, but he is not. He was great this year when they moved him into the slot, which is where he should have been all along. He has been great, but I think his age and toughness make the slot perfect for him.

Godfrey's stats are weak. He is late helping over the top and he takes bad angles at times. He would tell you that. That is not debatable. Compare him to Martin. Tackles, ints. etc. Pugh has been solid when he played, but he has not been given 3 years to show results like Godfrey. At least we critique Godfrey on what we see. You are discounting Pugh before giving him a chance.

Gamble is good, but he is aging. I agree with your comments on Gamble. Captain and McClain are small. Our D as it is likes a big CB. Maybe the next coach prefers the smaller, quicker guys. I am not a big fan of Marshall, but I think there is a chance we re-sign him. He can play and is good, but he has been beat a lot this year. Many reasons for that beyond his control.

Maybe we are all right to a degree. Its not black and white, you know. Have a good holiday and be careful.

Yeah, I think we've got two TE's on the roster that could be offensive weapons if we chose to use them as such in Barnidge and Rosario... I'm hoping the next coaching staff will get these guys more involved in our offense.

I'm a UNC homer so I would love to get a guy like Marvin Austin in the 3rd round, I think that would be a huge steal.

Besides the fact that he is under a huge contract with us, we would not find an LT to replace him who wasn't a downgrade. After QB, LT is arguably the most difficult and most important position in the game. High quality LT's are very hard to find, and when you get one you don't let him go. Gross had a shitty year, but so did most of our good players. He's still a Pro-Bowl caliber guy and I fully expect him to be back to top form next season.
