Panther Fans Should Be Given A Lot Of Credit

I think Panthers fans need to be given credit for showing up yesterday and cheering just as if we were contending for the playoffs. I was at the game yesterday, the stadium was far from full but it was a much better showing than the Falcons game and people actually stood and cheered. I was shocked by the number of people that came and the amount of passion people showed. I'm glad this team was able to get one more win at home with the fans behind them.

Today's game wasn't on TV in upstate SC. Fox 21 didn't even have a 1:00 game on. Anybody around here know what happened? Never seen that. I was at the game, so I got to see it any way, but curious as to why it wasn't televised in Greenville.

Fox changed it to that game on their own accord. Dunno why.

There were a good amount of fans there yesterday given the situation, including myself and my wife's youngest brother (who by the way had a blast and who I am going to convert from a Steelers fan to the Panthers in time I'm sure). I was glad we were able to get a win (especially since it didn't hurt draft position) and see Fox go out at home on top.

The last 9 seasons have been overall very good if not great. Things have been a disappointment since the Arizona playoff game, and it was very fitting to have the Cardinals at home to close out the season since that was the start of Fox's downfall. That does not change the fact the the first 4 years were a rollercoaster ride of pure joy that will be hard to be duplicated.

We have a better fan base than most people would like to believe given our market size and amount of time in the league. The Panthers have certainly taken a hit this year on the national stage, but the demise of the Panthers overall has been greatly overexaggerated...

We still have a very profitable team, solid fan support, and an owner who is going to redeem himself after the CBA gets taken care of.

Oh yeah, and a chance to get a franchise QB for the first time since the Kerry Collins experiment. Long-term things look much better now than the did after the end of 2008...

It is kind of like the recession. No one wanted to believe the good times were over, even though all evidence pointed to it, myself included.

The Panthers went "All In" in 2008, and it didn't work out like we hoped. And what happened this year was put in motion after that, given the labor unrest and the fact we had been living dangerously in regards to the salary cap for years.

2010 has been the day of reckoning. 2011 will be the aftermath, which I am hopeful will be the path back towards the top.

I live in the Upstate. I was at the game but always record the game. I sent an email to Fox 21 and this is the reply I received: (also sent an email to FOX sports)----

FOX assigned us the 4pm game on Sunday. CBS had the double header, so we had no football to program at 1pm. The figure skating was actually a FOX program.

Next week we have the double header.

I have asked FOX to leave us on the Panther preferred list.
