Ya cept the quality isnt as good on a dvd as a blu ray movie. Plus they dont make hd dvds nemore.

Some DVD players will upconvert. All that means is that it increases the resolution from 720x480 to 1920x1080. It doesn't add quality that isn't there.

Yeah, the picture quality will likely be much better, but it won't be blu-ray quality. (depending on the movie - Total Recall on blu-ray looks worse than VHS)

like other people said some dvd players upconvert and a good number of blu-ray players can upconvert.

But it will look grainy because the dvd can't go up to 1080p. It wont look anywhere close as good as a blu-ray.
