PSL Trouble Guys? What's up?

Dang Skippy. I'm a proud member of the "20,000 people that were at the last game in 2001 to witness the history of 15 straight losses in a single season, even though it was 35 degrees and raining" Club.

I've always wondered how many other PSL owners were there with me.

:seeya:

Me - best thing about that game was that they were switching from whichever manufacturer did the uniforms to Reebok so they literally had all this practice worn and game worn stuff dirt cheap in the team store. I got some great - the long sleeves or the tank type shirts that they wore under their uniforms - maybe paid $2 a piece for them. To this day I wear those things to games under whatever I'm wearing if it's cold or as a shell.

And then worst thing about the game is there was this poor guy who had left his tickets at home and he was going to have to pay something like $15 for a replacement ticket - he was alone. We had our 3rd one unused so just gave him ours so he could get in - we figured he'd go sit in his own seat. But no - we had never seen the guy in our lives and he came and sat right beside us in the correct seat. There might have been 20 people in our whole section, and this stranger couldn't even move over 1 seat to give us a little room.

Are you saying that the Panthers wouldn't even allow him to move to his same unattended seat? How telling... :D

As pointed out, the PSL contract states that you WILL pay for playoff tickets too. If you buy the tickets, and they don't play a playoff game, or bow out early, that money you spent on them is applied to your season tickets the next year. And I agree that the PSLs should be viewed as an investment, but like all investments, the team's performance can dictate how successful you may, or may not be, in unloading them when you want or need to.

I find the biggest rip off to be the pre season games myself, at least the FIRST home game. THOSE are ones the team ought to make available to the public, because you can't give them away, regardless of how good the team may be projected to be.

However, one can now sell their tickets via the team's own Web site, a feature that's long overdue. It helps me out because I drive almost 700 miles round trip for home games. I've had to eat quite a few tickets thru the years on the odd weekends when something came up and prevented me from going, and it was too late to try to contact someone in the Charlotte area who may use them, much less get them to that person in time. So that is a big help indeed, and I've always been able to unload them via the Web site.

But as said, the playoff ticket purchase requirement is part of the contract, and that applies regardless of whether one purchases their PSL(s) directly from the team, or from another owner. (For the record, I've seen the posts about people looking to maybe purchase some PSLs. I want to sell 2 of mine, in section 229 of the East end zone. Good seats, with a good long time group around us. If anyone's interested or knows someone who may be, send me a message).

Go Panthers...

If this were a home, I can see being flexible and working with the buyer to stay in the home due to the negative impact on so many levels.

We are talking about freakin' football tixs. Not a house. A car or a beach condo.

For some folks who are bristling at this that own the PSL's. Dude the writing is on the wall.

Scale back now. Send those funds you were sending to Mint St to other places. Like your credit card debt or some savings.

What has happened to HONOR?

Went back and read my PSL contract. Literally in the very first sentence in section 1.a. states that you are required to purchase all Panthers games (preseason, regular season, and post-season) played in Ericsson Stadium. This does not include college games or the Super Bowl.

So maybe there is a loophole because they don't play in "Ericsson" Stadium anymore.

It's not the PSL holders who are bitching, we're actually familiar with the concept of responsibility. It's the jealous and lazy who want to throw stones at the establishment by using our situations (which we all agreed to place ourselves in) as ammunition.

I'm not a tool, and I get offended by people who use me as one.

I don't have PSL's and I will never own them. If I ever changed my mind however, I would read the contract and pay for what I obligated myself to pay no matter how pisst I was. It's just like any other bill.

Q. Are the prices for post season tix posted at the beginning of the year?

Q. Does the contract limit the graduation of prices over the years for the games?

A. No, I don't think post season ticket prices are posted at the beginning of the year.

A. The contracts with club levels and box seats have limitations on increases in ticket prices over a certain span of time, I believe; regular seats do not. It's year-to-year.

To the first question: No, and they will never be, because it is the LEAGUE, not the team, that establishes the price of playoff tickets, for all teams involved.

As for the second question, 'graduation' of prices is not addressed for ANY tickets, regular or post season. That may have more to do with how much they spend on free agency as anything else, and possibly, the success of the team in the prior year.

thanx for info.

...so not only is it a stupid idea (PSL's) that unfortunately was passed along to us as "necessary" to build a stadium and have a team, it's also a risky proposition for those foolish enough and/or faithful enough to take the plunge.

Hats off to PSL owners but you signed so you pay. Period. After all you still get to brag to everyone about your PSL's and elite fandom. Isn't that worth it?

My guess is that the one's that were bitching (tight economic times) are the corporate owners who bought on spec for investment and "perks' benefits for customers (i.e. non fans) anyway. Those sons u bi+ches needed to have their licenses revoked in my opinion. The need for that type of fan is over. We have real fans now. Thanks and BYE to them.

Actually, PSLs were a great idea and continue to be. I'm not sorry I bought mine in the first round they were available, and I have no plans of getting rid of them. I actually haven't seen people I think are PSL owners complaining ... just people who say they are, but who aren't PSL owners themselves.

You can piss all over the corporate PSL owners all you want, but they are who allowed us to have a stadium, thus have a team, and they continue to put their money into their tickets to support the stadium and team.

Define "real fans" ....

"real fans" as it pertains to this discussion applies to those who pay their money to get in to watch their team play THE game of the week as far as they are concerned as opposed to a company entity that buys a block of tickets and has different random customers sitting in there week after week who probably would not have come without the free ride.

I am not saying all are like this but I hope you agree that there are plenty of them out there who are and we are not in the beginning stages of the franchise anymore and are therefore no longer in need of these type owners.

I thanked them for their service but to a lot of them the PSL and ticket expense is a write off, entertainment perk and those are always the first things trimmed in these economic times.

If these times trim out those who are not genuine as I describe above, I am glad to see them go.. Let's see if the scalpers want to take the risk of buying those premium seats because I don't think they want to and that only means a greater chance for the average joe to splurge one week and get down close.

I am not trying to offend anyone and there are plenty of exceptions to my theory here. If you or others loosely fit the mold, please don't think I am bashing you.

If you go the game and do not give your tix away to non fans, you do not fit the mold at all btw.
