Storage Wars...

anyone else intrigued by this show?

I've always wondered what it would be like to go to a storage unit auction, and if you could find any cool things worth keeping or reselling...

This show has me chomping at the bit to go out to a few and see how they are run, and maybe even buying someone else's junk... Lol...

yuuup

I like the three storage shows that are on TV but I hate them at the same time. We had our storage locker mistakenly auctioned off and even though I was really young I can still remember the feeling of opening the door to an empty locker. We sued and won, they didn't even show up lol, but no money will replace all the family items that were lost.

I almost made this thread last night while watching. It's amazing what people just leave behind. I would have loved to have that unit that had all the sports memorabilia in it. I wonder if auctions like that go on in every city and how you find out about them.

ummmm...Am I the only one that realizes all of the "hidden treasures" that they find are set up by the shows producers and nothing about this show is real? I used to really love Pawn Stars until it became painfully obvious how set up the show became (or most likely always was).

I dont know, I think Storage Wars is real. I am not sure about that other storage show with the two guys, that one seems fake...

Pawn Stars is an entertaining show to watch, but there is no way that the camera crew is there when all of the really good stuff comes through. I doubt that type of rare stuff comes through the door 365 days a year. Plus the camera crew would literally have to sit around waiting for that kind of stuff.

You also have to realize that when you buy a locker full of poo, and you have to nickel and dime everything to get your money back, it is really hard to sell all that crap unless you have a thrift store.

I guarantee that if dropped $1000 on a locker, lets just assume you find one item that is worth $500, and you were left with another $800 worth of everyday items. There is no way you could get your money back unless you had a yardsale every weekend! It would likely end up at Goodwill!

First, nothing on TV is real :D

Pawn Stars, yeah, I read that people will bring in cool stuff and they basically shut the place down and have them bring it back in for filming. How else are the experts always available?

You can tell that from watching the show. They always say, let me call my expert and get him in here, then shake hands. I think that's pretty much assumed that it may take a while.

To believe any reality TV show to be real and not exagerrated, set up, staged, whatever you want to call it is silly.

The guys from Pawn Stars don't even work in that shop. They come in once a week, shut the place down and film some episodes. I still watch it because of the history behind some of the stuff and it entertains me.

The bad thing about Storage Wars is that the editing on the show is really bad. They will show a guy going through a locker and then 5 seconds later there is a box, painting, etc. right behind the guy that wasn't there a few seconds ago. It has gotten better but was really bad a couple years ago when it first came on.

Doesn't mean the show isn't entertaining but if you were to watch the real life version of buying and selling storage lockers you would rather jab a rusty ice pick into your eye and pour lemon juice into it.

It is funny when Rick automatically knows that only 3x Mitsubishi A6M3 warplanes were built during WWII...Im like, my grandfather, who flew fuging plans in WWII doesn't even know that poo! This guy conveniently knows every detail about everything...fake.

I guarantee you the only facts that Rick has memorized is the Value Menu at Taco Bell!

The estimates that they give on resale value on some of the items seems like complete crap to me.

Like I'm gonna give you a few hundred dollars for hand-me-down furniture from the 80s.

The one time I saw a total score was when that yup guy bought a locker full of new vending equipment. That seemed to have resale value, and why anyone would let that rot in a private locker is beyond me.

    • Is it though? Even looking at just this past year, DK played 3 more games and had 81 more yards than Higgins had, but he also did it on less catches, with DK averaging 15 yards per catch and Higgins with 12.5. Yes, Higgins had 10 TDs to DK's 5, but I'd say that was far less about the WRs than the QBs, seeing as Burrow had 43 TDs (and only 9 INTs) to Geno's 21 TDs (and 15 INTs).  Swap the two of them last year and DK puts up better stats with Burrow as his QB than Higgins did, no doubt about it in my mind. DK has also only missed 3 games in his career, Higgins has missed 5 in each of the last 2 seasons. People here complain about our WR speed (and it's many people's biggest issue with T-Mac in the draft), but Higgins ran a 4.59 40 and DK ran a 4.33. DK has only played one more season than Higgins but he has 1,730 yards and 14 TDs more than Higgins, despite playing with the ghost of Russell Wilson and Geno Smith, while Higgins has had Burrow. To me, there is no debate, DK is a significantly better WR than Higgins.
