If we get a first round pick

This whole draft sucks...outside of probably the top 8-10 prospects there are serious questions IMO.

Orakpo looks as if he is this year's Vernon Gholston (I like him but is he physical enough to play 4-3 DE?)

Everette Brown looks talented but again he is 6'4'' 255. I'm not saying that he can't play 4-3 DE because he probably can but is he going to be a first round kind of guy? Maybe Meeks likes the smaller DEs that are speed rushers but don't we already have one in Charles Johnson??

Raji is going to be a NT IMO...he is not going to fit our scheme and IMO wouldn't be any better than Kemo which is the type of game he plays. He is not a great pass-rusher so why would you want him in the first round?

Tyson Jackson is not a 4-3 DE. Everything that I have read projects him as a Phillip Merling type who will be a very good 3-4 end.

Michael Johnson is intriguing b/c he is another freak athlete that actually has really good ball skills. Most analysts have him as a mid first round pick but after the combine I expect everyone to have him slotted to the Chiefs

IMO the only sure fire impact players in this draft right now are Andre Smith, Crabtree, Malcolm Jenkins, Curry, Maualuga, Maclin, and Harvin. Out of those guys the only one that we need is Jenkins who is a pipe dream right now unless we get KC, Cincy, Jacksonville, or GB to bite on Peppers.

Everette Brown would be a waste. He doesn't show much consistency, if people on here bitch about Peppers' disappearing acts during the season then he wouldn't be the guy I pick. According to the stats of this past year, he seemed to only get sacks in spurts of 3 then disappear for a couple games. That means he wasn't able to much against competition that was slightly better or because the QB on the other team is just holding the ball too long.

And if I look at his 3 sack performances in the last year against

VT, Clemson and Maryland.

VT has a weak pass blocking offensive line and in the game, Sean Glennon was at QB, he holds the ball WAY too long.

Clemson, Harper threw the ball 33 times and it wasn't like he was the only one getting pressure. Harper got abused all game. That shows the o-line was weak.

Maryland couldn't get anything going. They had a weak o-line and a qb that couldn't do anything.

Sure this guy is athletic, but like some have pointed out this year about peppers, he played his "best" against weaker competition.

Orakpo bench presses 515 lbs...thats pretty strong.

There is a big difference between being physical and being strong. There are going to be guys that go to the combine and put up 500 lbs on the bench and then don't have the intangibles to play in the NFL. There are ALWAYS workout warriors that shoot up draft boards and don't turn out. I'm not questioning his strength in the weight room I am questioning his strength on the football field. Again...not saying he won't turn out but would he be worth a first round draft pick if we traded Peppers...IDK??

I certainly get that impression with this draft too.

I am not totally excited about this draft overall, and it isn't because we don't have a first rounder(yet).

It just looks underwhelming, naturally I could be totally wrong, but I really am not impressed. Only the WR class really does anything for me.

If we get a first rounder, my crystal ball says that we will draft Graham Harrell.

Yes, I know Fox wouldn't let you think he would do that, but I think it is a strong possibility this offseason.

For the record also, I have never wanted us to draft a QB at all since we had Jake, and until the past couple of days I didn't think we would, but I have a funny hunch that Harrell is a BIG TARGET on our draft board.

take a look at Robert Ayers from Tennessee. He is extremely good and since the senior bowl is shooting up draft boards. Could be a valuable pick if we get a shot. We need to look past the top tier guys because if we are realistic we dont have a good shot at getting. This guy is going to be a beast.

Everything i have seen lists harrell as noodle armed. Not really what we need.

Not to mention the Johnson kid from GT. The Panthers have never drafted "need" so dont expect to start now. I guess if you're bored, you can continue on with this thread.

this comment looks really dumb if you remember what happened last season all we drafted was based upon need.

If he bulks up a little, he'll be fine...

He actually reminds me of Jake a lot, but he's younger and makes more reads than Jake.

He's highly accurate even if his throws seem forced, and he has very very good mechanics.

He'll be a starter in the NFL for a good while.

He uses his strength well on the football and is one of the overall strongest Dlinemen in this draft which is impressive at 255

He played in a system where there was always a dump off WR running across his vision and he played with arguably the best receiver in the country last year. Graham Harrell can't throw the ball downfield and once a noodle arm always a noodle arm...Ask Matt Leinart.
