What if Smith goes to New England?

who could we draft with the patriots' late 3rd-rounder that would come close to matching 89?.......

Exactely!! I would say the same statement using 2nd rounder also. I just dont get all this "trade Smith" stuff. Even if he has lost a step, etc which is impossible to really know with this brutal offense, he is still better than anybody you are going to draft in the 2nd, 3rd round or later.

A player like Smith can easily be one of those WR's who stays around the league a long time and produces. Will he always be a #1, probably not - but can he produce for years to come - very possible and much better than the risk of a draft pick.

The Panthers can turn it around, and even fast enough for Smitty to be part of it.

we wouldn't find a 3rd rounder and would probably have a hard time finding a 2nd rounder that could ever come close to matching smith...which is why you don't use that 3rd round pick to draft anyone. you package it up with a late round pick and trade for an upgrade.
