The Next Head Coach

Brian Schottenheimer is having a good day today.

i saw some of his comments made about mistakes he made with regards to his playcalling being too complicated for sanchez and that he was going to call some safe passing plays for the young QB.

those are the things i am wanting to hear from him. from fox and other coaches...not so much. as i've said before, his playcalling and game planning has been too complex for young QBs to carry out and sets them up for failure. given time the QB would end up being more adequate to handle it and understand what he wants to do. for the time being, it's more important that he learns some restraint and keeps it at the level his players are capable of.

from what i'm seeing, i wouldn't mind him coming here.

Schotty jr was also able to do last year what Davidson had no clue how to do with Clausen.

Despite Sanchez passing for only 100 yards a game at times the Jets continued to run the ball very succesfully.

The Jets were #1 in rushing yards per game despite being 31st in passing yards. This without a tailback the quality of DWill or Stewart.

Win for Schotty, complete fail for Davidson.

totally agree. a lot of the failure is on fox as well. they have ne desire to adjust the gameplan to suit the players. they just throw the guys in there and hope that the players can carry out what they want to do. last year they wanted to pretend that jake was the same QB he was prior to tommy jone hurting him and then they expected that same production and play from moore and clausen regardless of experience and ability.

i will say that schotty had to be told by ryan to tone it down last year. sanchez asked him to. running the ball that much wasn't what shotty wanted to do. thats what ryan wanted to help protect sanchez from failure. schotty was able to adjust things, though. i just don't think that is something that fox and davidson has much of a clue how to do.
