The Next Head Coach

Mr. Scot

95 Draft: targeted Kerry Collins over Steve McNair

96 Draft: selected Tshimanga Biakabutuka over Eddie George

98 Draft: picked Jason Peter over Vonnie Holliday

02 Draft: chose DeShaun Foster over Clinton Portis

And of course, there's the 1999 offseason when the two best available names in coaching were Mike Holmgren and George Seifert. We chose to go for Seifert :(

Granted, most of the people that made those decisions are gone. Still, it's the pattern. That's why every time I see the Panthers making a choice between two guys, I get nervous.

Happily, evidence this time points to them making - at least what I would consider - the right choice :)

That said, I'll still remain a tiny bit apprehensive right up until things are official.

Holmgren was off the board. George, like most Panther coaches, was decent when not hung out to dry.

It is rumored that Ron Turner from the Colts would be an OC candidate for Rivera if he is hired. That is very funny considering last February Turner was with Stanford for a month before he took a job with the Colts.

Ron Turner is awful.

Ron Turner is awful.

While he was awful as a college head coach, i disagree about him being awful as an OC in the pro's

I'm not saying he was great or the best OC ever but at least we should have an offense that actually resembles an offense rather than being offensive

Also, if not mistaken, he was the OC for the Bears latest Superbowl run
