The Next Head Coach

Mr. Scot

NFL.com has the Chargers at 6th, ESPN.com has them at 11th. either way, how is that bad??

Ah, they dropped after tonights game, we'll see where they are after week 14 is done.

http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?season=2010&seasonType=REG&defensiveStatisticCategory=GAME_STATS&d-447263-o=2&conference=ALL&tabSeq=2&role=OPP&d-447263-p=1&d-447263-s=TOTAL_POINTS_SCORED&d-447263-n=1

Anyway, #1 defense sounds good but they're talking yards allowed, not points allowed. When you talk about the great 85 Bears and 2000 Ravens defenses their benchmark is points allowed, no one gives a poo how many yards they gave up. Points allowed is the best watermark imho.

There are 10 DCs in the NFL giving up fewer points per game right now than Rivera. Of course the true DC/OC assistant Head Coach candidate hysteria won't truly set in until we see which teams go deep in the playoffs. The Bolts may not make the playoffs at all.

Somehow I get the impression, with the addition of Danny Morrison presumably aiding the coaching search, that the Panthers will look for a coach who is a Christian and a man of integrity and strong moral principles.

Not that they would look for someone who has weak morals, but they would be more likely to hire someone like Tony Dungy than Rex Ryan.

I heard That Danny Morrison an Marty Hurney will be the two who hve there finger print all over the head coaching search. Danny Morrison was an AD at TCU.. So there is a chance they will look for some college coaches.I really cant say Gary Patterson will be a candiate or anything. With TCU moving to the Big East now, if he was to leave that really couls set the program back. If its anybody out of college it will be somebody that Danny morrison have ties with or is a long time friend.

I know they played the 49ers witch isnt a good team. Even the Carolina panthers beat them. But Ron Rivera defense played great last Night. The whole time doing the game the Analyst said that Ron Rivera giving the Chance will be a good Head Coach.

Possibly, but Matt Millen ain't exactly a ringing endorsement. :P

I cannot wrap my mind around which choice would be the best. I dont know why everyone thinks that going back to you're college playing days is the dream job for a coach. Harbaugh has nothing to prove if he goes to Michigan. I think the next jump for him is the Pros. He will be enticed because of the 1st overall draft pick (hopefully). I just have a feeling about him. I want him here... no homo.

I do not think so, and here is why.. He wants a new challenge, and the Big House does not present any new challenges for him. Maybe after the NFL if he is not as successful. But maybe. I would say 25% chance?

I would say its a 30 percent chance he would go to michigan, 40 percent that he stays at stanford and 30 percent he would go to nfl. That 40 percent chance of michigan is only if the job comes open. There are other reasons why he wouldn't go to michigan, but that idea that michigan doesn't present any challenges is stereotypical. Michigan isn't the same michigan of ten years ago. They have athletes under rich rod's scheme that are not inner-changeble into harbaugh's pro teachings. So it would take a few years for harbaugh to get his players into the program and michigan isn't hte recruiting base cali and west coast is. But, i think the only way harbaugh goes to the NFL now would be if the team that drafts luck is the team that offers him the job. Aka, this may be the year. imo, fwiw.
