The Next Head Coach

Mr. Scot

Doesn't Shottenheimer have the same philosophy as Davidson now. He's conservative, is he not?
schotty is forced to be more conservative than what he would like because of sanchez. he has a complex offense, but it is more than what sanchez can deal with. sanchez asked for the playbook to be simplified and rex ryan had to step in and tell schotty to make it easy on the kid.

only way i would want schotty here is if we had an incredibly smart QB to carry out his offense. luck would be ideal, but other than that, i just don't know who that would be.

Childress is, better or worse, a legitimate option as an assistant coach. He is available, whereas 90% of the names people push aren't.

Jauron's there to succeed McDermott if it comes to that. Highly unlikely.

Childress would be the OC choice I would expect. I just wouldn't like it.

i don't really expect childress here and i know i don't want him here. he was given a lot more credit for mcnabb's development early on than what was deserved and as OC he was as much in control as mccoy was with mcdaniels in denver.

childress just doesn't have that youthful and energetic exuberance i think the team is looking for.

What's your opinion on Mr. Manusky, Mr. Scot..?

Manusky_Approval_Rating.jpg

I detested the thought of it a few days ago, but after reading about him a bit, I wouldn't be in TOTAL devastation if we signed him.

I wouldn't be leaping for joy, but I wouldn't be devastated either..

There are better candidates.

If McDermott is the HC hire, not much.

I'm not that big on the idea of McDermott as HC though, and I think some of the other candidates could get better options.

take away McDermott. Tell me about some guys available that are better than Childress.

Again, I'm not saying he's aces, just that there's a lot less out there than the dreamers expect.

The thing I worry about with Childress is, his development of QBs. He had the Fox vet syndrome, rather than developing a young QB. He put all his money on Favre, which ultimately got him fired, I wonder if he CAN develop one, because he didnt.

copy and paste, didn't feel like typing it again

as OC he wouldn't be here to develop QBs, necessarily, just to run the O.

again not to champion the guy, but of guys who are available in the real world and not just storybook land, there's not a guy I'd rather pursue as OC other than Hue Jackson.

lol you can cross the Jets OC off the list.. 3rd down, game on the line? let your 50 QB rating quarterback throw it deep when he has been off target going deep all game..

Just going after what the sdefrnse is giving him .TURNED OUT that if you get enough shots you will hit one sooner or later .Shot,s team moves on ,Brilliant

best NFL QB in league goes home.

That makes two pro bowl qbs already watching the rest of playoffs at home with the Panthers

Answered this much earlier today, but my post isn't here

Of the guys I've looked at, the idea I like best is Rivera and John Ramsdell. Could also see getting Brian Daboll with Ryan. I'd happily take Gantt's idea of getting Jim Zorn, too. Heck, part of me wonders what Henning might do without Fox over him. And there's McDaniels, though admittedly I'm not so high on that one, I'd take him over Childress.

What's always tough with assistant coaches is it's not easy to find out whose contract is up. Nobody keeps a "free agent coach" database.

Zorn is unlikely, but possible since the Ravens allow their guys that option sometimes.

Still, Zorn was an awful playcaller, and compared to Childress or McDaniels, he has no credability.

I really don't get the resistance with Childress. Compared to the field, he's a good OC. Daboll has never been a part of anything worthwhile, Childress took teams to the playoffs as HC and OC.

Note: Brad Childress did not call plays while in Philly. Even as OC.
