The Next Head Coach

Mr. Scot

I think Harbaugh has to be still the number 1 choice. Brucee Arians and Rivera are the back up plans.I wonder what happen to old Russ. If we dont get Harbaugh he might come back in the fold.

But the Press Conference made me wonder if its more about Money then winning Football games.

But if its not Harbaugh, I think more then likely it will come down to Rivera, Grimm, an Arians.{ Hope Not }..

Outside coaching news:

The Broncos are going to interview Mike Mularkey and the Niners have asked for permission to interview Hue Jackson and Perry Fewell.

Word is the Bengals are keeping Marvin Lewis.

And, believe it or not, there's talk of Marty Mornhinweg getting another hjead coaching spot. Specifically, with the Browns.

(Florio wrote that perhaps Holmgren likes the idea of winning the OT coin toss and choosing to kick)

If you ask me out of Arians, Fewell, Rob Ryan an Rivera. Rivera has the best chance to put together a solid coaching staff around Luck. I dont feel that Arians could pull people from Pittsburg Big Cat might think he can but i dont. An Fewell will bring probably Nobody from NY. An Rob Ryan has nobody to bring. great Coaching search! Marty an Danny.!

I like Marty Mornhinweg. He's done a great job in Philly.

I'd attribute most of that to Andy Reid.

Mornhinweg will always be remembered for that utterly boneheaded decision to kickoff after winning the toss in overtime.

He's not someone I'd want to look at as a head coach, ever.

Word out of Dallas that the Cowboys will interview Dolphins DB Coach Todd Bowles.

Jones has denied the prior reports that Garrett was officially his choice, probably in part due to the fact that WR coach Ray Sherman declined to go along and say "Yeah, I was interviewed" to make it look as if Jones had complied with the Rooney Rule.

that was in 2002, i think the man has learned a thing or two since then.

As i recall Marty has been the playcaller in Philly since 2006 and has done

a fine job at helping Vick become a complete quarterback.

It's not the same skill set.

Position coaching is mostly practice coaching. In games, you help guys make adjustments, but most of your work is till done on the practice field.

Head coaching requires the ability to think fast (very fast) and manage all the aspects of the game at once.

Some guys just don't have the brain for that, and I think Marty is one of them.

(Mike Martz is another)
