The Next Head Coach

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

Michigan got housed today.

If Richrod gets fired in the next 48 they will save 2 mill on his buyout.

They would be in the race soon as he is fired.

I have calmed my own fears of him going to Michigan with this rationale.

I believe that if Harbaugh went to Michigan and was'nt successful he would have a tough time getting a head coching job in the NFL. On the flipside of that he could come to the NFL and not have the best campaign but would likely still be welcomed back home to Michigan.

So basically if he really wants to go there at some point, there will be oppurtunties down the road. If he wants to come to NFL at some point, right now we present his best option in the forseeable future.

What does Gantt's twitter page say?

He's pretty much guranteed Luck will be the pick assuming he declares. Also has stated that he thinks Harbaugh will be given the chance to say no, in regards to being our next coach.

Another thing he said a few days ago in response to somebody asking him if we has in vegas and putting money on it who's his pick, he said Harbaugh

Well it seems our chances went down a little bit now.Because i believe Rich gets fired by monday. That was a beat down that they took today.

You think? Unless he thinks he's not going to be able to make it in the NFL I'm not so sure Michigan is so much more attractive a job than Carolina.

I think Schotty is really hit and miss, but really who isn't? Some days he looks like a genius, some he looks like an idiot. Many people will argue the latter. I think much of his coaching future will be determined in the playoffs. Overall I think hes done well with Sanchez.

Maybe for Harbaugh, but the liklihood for Luck to declare went up. Michigan will pay more than Stanford. Hopefully, Carolina pays more than Michigan. Harbaugh will be enticed by the NFL. WHy Carolina and not SF or Denver etc? We can get Luck. SInce Luck has 2 weeks to decide, I look for Harbaugh to be interviewed by Carolina ASAP.

Reports from Vikings camp is that they're in serious talks with Frazier so it's likely he's out of the playing field

Garrett looks like he's on the fence in Dallas, and a lot of that hinges on Fisher's job security in Tennessee. Fisher might have messed up bad in the eyes of Bud Adams with the whole VY situation and Fisher should've stopped coaching the Titans at least 5 years ago anyway. If he becomes available, Jones will be hard pressed to pass on the guy, so it's possible Garrett moves back into play.

    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
    • Well, we got our answer on Army today.
