The Next Head Coach

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

Could be that JR announced this before the game for the same reason the Nines fired Singletary with 1 game left (they did not do that to turn their season around.) Perhaps they are interested in the same coach???

I think the odds on Harbaugh/Luck coming here just went up.

Me from another thread.

I don't put a lot of stock into it, but every time someone mentions McCoy as a candidate for HC, I get a heart palpitation, so I wish they'd cut that crap out.

Is anyone else really underwhelmed by the list of coordinator candidates this year? Lil Schotty is the OC of a very meh offense, Grimm is the OL and RB coach on a team with a terrible line and running attack, the wheels are falling off of Fewell's D at the worst time.. Rivera is the only coordinator out there who looks like you could make a case for based on performance.

The retreads feature Chucky, whose team hated his guts and never really did much after his SB win, undead lake-dwelling Schotty and Cowher.

Harbaugh and maybe Ferentz from the college ranks.

Small wonder everyone is screaming for Jim.

I haven't seen anyone mention Brian Billick. IMO Billick is a really underrated coach. I'm not saying he would be my first choice but I would definitely rather have him than Russ Grimm. Right now I'd say my top 5 candidates are:

1. Harbaugh - B/c Luck would be a lock and I really like what his brother is doing at Baltimore.

2. Cowher - Not likely.

3. Gruden - QB guru.

4. Billick

5. Schottenheimer - Despite what many will say I think he has done a really good job handling Sanchez and tayloring that offense toward making it easy for his young QB while still enabling him to grow.

Nice Choices

My top 5 at the moment are

1-Harbaugh

2-Grimm

3-Schottenheimer

4-Rivera

5-Shurmer

I will have to say my candiates are

1.Jim Harbaugh

2.Russ Grimm

3.Ron Rivera

4. Bill Cowher

I know alot of people are saying no not cowher he will wont to much money an he will wont to be GM. I really dont think thats the case to be honest. He never said he wonted to be GM or anything like that. Also i dont think money will be a factor. I think this is a big opportunity for him with the coaching staff that fox had been clean out also he could bring in the people he want. Dont get me wrong i wouldnt mind having Jim Harbaugh but its 50/50 chance with him.An Andrew Luck decision will be base off Harbaugh more then you can dream about. Im really not sold on Russ Grimm becoming a head coach now.Ron Rivera will probably have a great shot.

But who ever get this team will have a pretty nice team.

I am for Brain Billick or Bill Cowher I have to be honest Iam more for "retread". I am just convinced we need experienced leadership with so many young gunns. I noticed ESPEN reported the assisatants we would be looking at but also through Marvin Lewis in there. Did anyone else catch that on sportscenter this morning?

Ive never seen the fascination in Brian Billick. his offense was never great (hes an offensive coach) and his defense led by arguably one of the greatest Defensive staffs of all time...Marvin Lewis (dc), Jack Del Rio, Mike Smith, Mike Singletary, Mike Nolan, Rex Ryan, carried the team. He knows how to build a defensive staff I'll give him that, other than that, pfft!

1. Harbaugh

2. Rivera

3. Grimm

I wouldn't be happy with anyone else.

I am not a fan of hiring a re-tread head coach. I want someone who is hungry and feels they have something to prove. I don't want a fat cat at the helm of our team who feels a false sense of entitlement already such as a Gruden or Cowher. Harbaugh is the perfect guy for us, but both Rivera and Grimm don't put up with BS and they're tough coaches who will make this team better very quickly.
