The Next Head Coach

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

they definitely spoke with Fox and Dungy. It was Spurrier I didn't have information on us interviewing.

Neither did I, but another fellow said we had, so I asked Gantt and he confirmed it (said the interview was a disaster though).

the coach from the Rooney rule would have to be from our own staff, Baker, or Meeks, and then maybe 2 other guys, I would say at this point, harbaugh/schotty(unless they go far in playoffs) then maybe Grimm?

Bringing the ideas of coaches in the playoffs, this would favor harbaugh because their bowl game will be over before the playoffs even start. Is there a rule as to when we can start/search or name a new coach? Could it be the day after the season is over?

I'd agree Baker or Meeks could be a Rooney Rule interview. Others with more realistic chances would be Fewell, Rivera or Winston Moss.

As to the when, the season has to be over before we can do anything official.

Regarding Chip Kelly, I think King just pulled that out of his rumpus.

That is true, and I know some don't want them. We will see. I think that Harbaugh will do good things in the Pro's. Going to Michigan scares me, but I think he wants to be in the Pros. I hope that Denver Wins and we lose thursday. I know the Steelers will be playing, and i think the Falcons will be forced to play next weekend as well.

Need to cheer heavy for the Saints and Broncos this weekend. Bengals too but they're facing the Chargers, so I wouldn't bet on it.

Petrino and Saban really screwed things up for other college guys.

My gut is telling me it won't be Harbaugh, or any one of the big names anyone is tossing about... At worst, it would be Grimm...

It could very well be someone nobody is expecting... It'd be tough since we're being so thorough, but you never know...

As for the Rooney rule, I'd bet Meeks and Baker would be two candidates for that slot, and I honestly hope both those guys stick around during the changeover...

Hey Mr. Scot just a few days a go i found this on Espn. http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcsouth/tag/_/name/mike-mularkey

and something very intresting that make more sense than Russ Grimm as HC

As John Fox is about to coach his last game in Bank of America Stadium as coach of the Carolina Panthers, a lot of fans are wondering who will replace Fox.

We’ve touched on it from time to time and thrown out names like Russ Grimm, the Arizona assistant coach, who, ironically will be on the opposing sideline today. Grimm’s a logical target. He might end up with the job, but he’s not going to be the only guy who gets a look.

Joseph Person takes a good look at Carolina’s history when hiring coaches and lays out some philosophies that might factor into this decision. I’ll add a little more now. The Panthers have a decent history of hiring rising defensive coordinators, and that remains a possibility.

But don’t rule out the possibility of the Panthers going on the offensive after nine years of Fox’s conservative offense. Although Grimm is an offensive coach, his background suggests he would favor more of a grind-it-out approach. That might not be exactly what the Panthers are looking for and someone like New York Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer could offer a little more spice. Or the Panthers could look to someone with a proven track record in developing young quarterbacks, such as Atlanta coordinator Mike Mularkey, to build around possible No. 1 draft pick Andrew Luck or this year's rookie Jimmy Clausen.

Meeks yes also Baker but we cant possibly keep both with fox on his way out. His going to take alot off his assistances with him. Meeks mite stay , If who ever is the HC wants a 4-3 D Personally we dont have the personnal for a switch to a 3-4 our ends , we still dont have a DT who can stuff the run/ and let out talented corp of LB James, Jon, Thomas.

1. Jim Harbaugh "signs extention with Stanford, yet to be seen".

2.Jon Gruden "Already turned down the UM job , Also has not intrested in coming here".

3.Charlie Weis " KC won't let him go that easy, they need him in the AFC to have a chance at pats".

4.Mike Mularkey "Want's to coach again, Played for the Steelers, Coach their offense, made use of ward, bettis , randle el, stew. plus want ATL has done this year 12-4 with 48 % convert on 3rd downs, His son is a LB for the tarheels."

5. Russ grimm. His offense run game got shout down by the 2-12 panthers. Russ is a great OC but i dont see him in a suit trying to sale tickets. I would just give Mike the keys and hope for the same result in Atl.
