Panthers tout alternatives to 'Double Trouble'

Goodson may have been a fumbler but he is shaping up. There were some moments last game where he wasn't protecting the ball properly but it didn't pop out. So that said he has some work to do in getting his muscle memory to automatically cover that ball up.

why does he write the article as if he's expecting Stewart to brag about his individual successes while we're 1-12?

That was awkward to read. I understand that he's trying to find a bright spot but the article seems out of tune with the current state of things.

It's not ironic that we are rushing well without Williams either. Anybody can run behind the line when they block well. Hoover got 18 yards against the Giants last year and I'm still in awe.

I don't consider our offensive line to be playing well this season. I don't know how many times I have seen defenders in the backfield. Luckily Stewart is talented enough to be able to break tackles because he has had plenty of times where a defender or two got past the linemen and was going to tackle Stewart for a negative yardage play. Imagine how many more yards Stewart could have with a better playing line. I will agree with you that our offensive line can block well in the run game but this year our line hasn't really played at the level they have in the past.

With Goodson playing as well as he has I can't help but wonder what we are going to do with Williams. Goodson is fast and has made plenty of catches. Goodson has the ability to make plays in the pass game and he has been very effective this year. He is also the younger than both running backs. I think Goodson is faster than Williams but Williams is a better runner because Williams can break more tackles and can hold on to the ball a whole lot better than Goodson.

Honestly I think the front office will save money and let go of Williams.

I love Deangelo and would like to see him retire as a panther but he is going to want a lot more money and we need to be able to save money to fill the holes our team has. I have heard that DeAngelo does want to stay in Carolina and would accept less money to be able to play with Stewart but With the way our front office has been the past few years I believe Williams will be gone. DeAngelo is getting older and has already had injury problems the past two years. I think we should keep 3 good running backs because injuries are very frequent in the NFL and we are a team that loves to run so maybe we will keep all three. Maybe we will trade Goodson who has a low salary and we might be able to squeeze a second round pick out of him after all he is very versatile and is plays well in all aspects of the game. I would like to see us keep all using double trouble to run and use Goodson on pass plays.

Should Williams leave we will still have 2 talented running backs that can get the job down and is one less problem we will have to try to fix in the off season. Our team has a lot of holes to fix and luckily we have Goodson and Stewart under contract until 2013. So that should give us plenty of time to improve other problems with the team.

I think the offensive line has been playing much better as of late. It's not Stewart's ability that is getting him yards. He's nothing if he doesn't have some room to build up some momentum. That's why Williams was doing so much better, he can make something out of nothing due to his lateral moves. Stewart's really only effective if he has at least some form of a lane to run through.

    • It didn’t feel like we’re the Bills bc we’re not a consistent conference contender yet we’re a rebuilding team. But with the game on the line we played just like the Bills went straight down the field and scored a tuddy then converted a 2pt conversion I have to give credit where credit is due. And the chiefs played us like we were the Bills in an AFC championship game, drive down the field and kicked a walk off FG to win at the end very similar to me. Are saying our defense stunk yesterday? Vs an elite offense team with elite coaching an elite QB man idk what you want them to do. KC does these things to the best defenses in the league consistently to win AFC chips and Super Bowls let’s not devalue who they are. I saw us play KC to the wire and barely lose defense did its thing as much as it could. Bingo!!! We’re also forgetting how injured we’ve been defensively this year, yes we need to build up the D but adding a few pieces and D Browns successful rehab should make us a very strong unit again. Couple that with the offense we saw yesterday and we’re winning our division.
    • Canales deserves a lot of credit. I'm very pleased. He's definitely making strides with Bryce. I also think some of his lack of commitment to Bryce as the starter is to motivate Bryce. I think he liked what he saw when Bryce was benched.  Even the Defense looks tremendously better with just a couple more pieces getting healthy. Wonnum has made our pass rush viable again.  I would love to see this team with one more good player across the defensive front, DT or an edge rusher.
    • I didn’t see any limitations yesterday
