Hilee Taylor vs Dwight Freeny

Just wondering do you think Hilee has a some of the same skills, both are smaller but extremly quick. Given that Ron Meeks helped develop Dwight...can he do the saem thing with Hilee. If we lose JP Hilee may be the answer.

I think you guys are missing the point of the original post. He never said that Taylor was or will be as good as Freeney. He only pointed out that Meeks worked with an undersized DE in Freeney...he asked if we thought that Meeks could work with and put Taylor in positions to make plays.

That original quote kind of sounds to me like he's suggesting Meeks can get the same results with Taylor as he did with Freeny. I think most of the people in the thread took it that way too.

How could you really even judge how he was against anything? He had 4 tackles all year. Hoover and Smith had as many tackles as he did.

You're traveling through another dimension -- a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. That's a signpost up ahead: your next stop: the Tarheel Zone! Where every signee is a top 10, and every graduate is a potential all-pro!

Just let it go, we'll see how the kid does next year. :)

I took it to mean...could Meeks get results similar to what Freeny does from Taylor. Never took it that Taylor was or will be better than Freeny. Undersized players...or slower players....etc... can often find success if they are put in the right situations. I think Meeks may see some of the same characteristics in Taylor and look to utilize those strengths.

If you're talking about Brayton, he had 40 tackles, and I stand by my opinion that he's better than Wallace as a starter.

If you're talking about Taylor, I watched him exclusively every time he came in the game, so I know for a fact that he didn't just get pushed around when the opponent ran ran the ball. I don't care how many tackles he had because he didn't play enough to rack up a bunch of tackles.

Once again though, I'm NOT saying that Taylor is ever even gonna be a full time starter, much less the next Freeney, so I wish people would stop putting words in my mouth. This is getting ridiculous.

Stevie Wonder could see which side the bias is really coming from here.

Yeah, one side says they hope he becomes great but either aren't counting on it or don't see it yet. The other describes him like you would describe a great player and then accuses people of putting words in their mouths and pretends they're not biased. ;)

All I have ever said, is that Hilee Taylor can be a good back up and that he exceeded my expectations as a run defender, the implication being that I wasn't expecting much in the first place. If that somehow equals describing him as a great player, then so be it.

I do know for sure that he was better than the so called "Predator" that he replaced.

McClover had better stats...

(ok, now I'm just trying to yank your chain)

Hell, I thought your were yanking my chain in this whole thread. It's just that I don't mind playing along.:D

On a serious note though...it is a shame that McClover got hurt after leaving here. It would have been nice if he had worked out here, but it just wasn't meant to be.

Like you I am actually an ABC fan as well. Much to the chagrin of my daughter who was a student athletic trainer for the Carolina football team last year and talked about how hard Taylor worked and how he was a great character guy. So I have rooted for him to succeed and hope he can do the things in order to make it at the pro-level. If he holds true to form he will work very hard in the off-season and come to training camp bigger and stronger and ready to challenge for more playing time.

Side note: This fall she trained for the girls soccer team that won the national championship.
