Playing a Cover 2 will make Beason the best LB in the league

Beason is fairly unathletic by standard measures of a MLB. That is why he fell as far as he did in the draft. The main knocks on him were his inability to cover the pass, his lack of lateral quickness, and his lack of a true position at the next level. He could have been any of the three linebacking positions.

It's great that he turned out to prove them wrong on most accounts, but Beason is best suited for the system he currently plays in where he is responsible for run stopping and using his brain to make plays as opposed to his athleticism.

Beason is the best run stopping MLB in the league, and we'll find that out when we drop him into coverage.

Anyone know what they're talking about in here?

Harris is terrible in coverage because he didn't get that many pass defendeds?

Come on now, it's not Harris's fault that he covered his area well so he didn't get many balls thrown his way. Think about all the big plays that happened in the secondary and whose side of the field they were. Lucas and Godfrey.

If anything Gofrey needs to up his coverage skills and reduce the mistakes he makes.

Harris is a good fit for the Cover 2. You need a hard hitter in the SS spot to intimidate receivers going over the middle, and to force turnovers. Bob Sanders is no ball hawk, but he still prevails in the defense.

Another thing about the Tampa 2 is how important being able to tackle is. Especially for the the corners. Ken Lucas and Marshall are pretty solid tacklers, but I don't know if I trust Gamble completely in a Tampa 2. He improved his tackling a lot this year, but he needs to get even better for the Tampa 2.

Also the knock on Beason was his size, and slow combine speed. He has much better game speed and his instincts make up for any of the knocks on him. Beason plays the ball well, but it will be seen if he can legitimately defend the middle like an Urlacher does. Urlacher is much much more taller than Beason is.

I'm sorry to say, but they didnt attack Harris much because of how good he cover the field

They attacked Godfrey, Marshall, and Lucas on a constant basis cause they was the weakest in our secondary. Lots of the time, Harris didn't even play the back field. He stayed close to the line of the scrimmage or the middle of the field. Because we ran Cover 2 & 3 most of the time. Him and Godfrey rotated playing middle of the field

And when he has played his side in the back, when the ball was thrown in his area he hasn't made any big plays. Check that deep ball in the N.Y game. He's not a good cover safety, just a hard hitting good run stopped

And Gamble proved this year he's a better tackler now than Lucas. Just a better corner period. Lucas is getting older and is just losing it, sorry to say. We need to cut him forreal
