Not sure how this board went from disappointed and angry to nonsensical and delirious in one season but it looks like it has.

Step back from the ledge my friends. This reminds me of that poor sap at the blackjack table that starts doubling and tripling their bets when they are clearly getting owned by the dealer.

"Well it can't hurt" is not a logic that drives decision-making in the NFL. It's true that playing AE under center more will not change the outcome of this season. And yes it is painfully apparent that nobody cares if we win or lose anymore in 2010 and are open to almost anything for the mere sake of amusement. But if it cannot help, why do something stupid?

I like the kid and think he can do well one day. So I don't want to risk any of his potential by throwing him to the wolves right now just because the majority of the peanut gallery needs more blood to be entertained.

And you are someone who reads a comment made mostly in jest and is taking it as deadly serious and chastising everyone as if anyone thought it woud happen. Lighten up Francis.

You think that the Panthers would put a guy who has taken 3 snaps in the whole season as the starter just to see what would happen?? You honestly think that posters on here really believe that Fox is going to do anything different or that he is even in control of what happens at this point??

The thread just exhibits that folks have given up on the season not that they really want Edwards to start. I would like him to play a few series in the wildcat to see what happens, but that is a far cry from starting him for the whole game.

If someone said they would kill their selves if we didn't pick up Cowher, are you going to go into a dozen posts about how much there is to live for or chastise him or her for being so dramatic?? You obviously are one of the few who is taking this thread very seriously.

No you don't just adjust your offense from one style to the other- Erhardt-Perkins style to West Coast on a weekly basis. If what you mean is that they went to more of a passing attack to take advantage of the Giants defensive tendencies and what the Giants were giving up, that is no different than every week. The difference is that Weinke could make the throws and moved the ball while Clausen is awful and can't even make the simplest throws at this point. He is even afraid to step up in the pocket and wait for a receiver to come open. He runs laterally right into the sack just like Carr did. I told all of you that he was David Carr lite a month or two ago and got tons of crap from Clausen nuthuggers like you. I was right about the Panthers and Richardson and right about Clausen. The only reason Clausen hasn't been ridden out of town like Carr was, is that Clausen is a rookie and folks hold out hope he can change. Some things you can't change and fear of making mistakes doomed Carr and will doom Clausen.

I love how everyone in this board is a Clausen nuthugger or a Moore nuthugger, or worse, a know-it-all genius who should be working in an NFL front office as a GM with all the knowledge they have.

Weinke could not make a throw unless the intended receiver was the grass. Your revisionist history prevails again, I see.

I don't know how anyone could tout Weinke as being so good and Clausen so bad, when they both have been ineffective. Weinke was pulled in the ATL game because he was even more scared to throw it than Clausen is now.

He also isn't afraid to step up in the pocket at all. I counted many, many times where he did that last week only to be blindsided by a sack, or wait! Throw a completion downfield. Your biases against Clausen are making your argument sound ridiculous.

I love armchair QBs and the fact that they can only remember a QB's last pass, or generalize everything they do.

in comparison to Clausen, Weinke COULD make the basic throws. That isn't a claim Weinke was "so good".

Weinke threw TDs in 9 games as a rookie

Weinke threw for over 200 yards 6 different times as a rookie.

the Weinke led offense also simply scored more....as a rookie.

also your memory is bad. Clausen never steps up in the pocket. He did do it last week twice and one time it resulted in sack. Doing it 2 times vs. his absurd number of scrambles is a joke.

Actually Weinke sucked which is the point here. When a quarterback who sucks plays better than your supposed franchise guy, there is a problem Houston.

When players suck in Carolina their reported suckage is compared to 2 quarterbacks who both sucked here. David Carr and Chris Weinke. The sad thing is that Clausen has played worse than both of them.

As for stepping up in the pocket, that would likely be if he couldn't run anywhere else. LOL

What is ridiculous is that you come on here day after day defending a guy that has clearly shown he doesn't have a clue. Read the papers, listen to the weekly game commentary. No one thinks Clausen is an NFL quarterback. Just nuthuggers like you are left.

But that is good. Even sucky players need someone on their side. Just wonder what you will talk about when he is relegated to the backup or traded.

So....this thread is not about wanting to see AE get more reps to finish this season?

And since its not about that, people definitely aren't really wanting that to happen because it couldn't hurt anything and it would be amusing or more interesting?

My bad.

When you are 1-12 and headed to 2-14 or likely 1-15, you take your moments where you can. I could see Edwards coming in on Sunday in the wildcat and maybe leading us to a few first downs. The crowd ( I use the term loosely) would love it especially if we got some points.

Would that usher in demands to start him for the last 2 games full-time? From Edwards supporters perhaps maybe even from Sorenson or other folks. But for me I want Clausen to finish the year so it erases all sense that he actually is NFL ready.

The point is when you suck as bad as we do, what is wrong with a few moments of excitement or putting in the wildcat to see what happens. For that matter what about putting him in as receiver? But that would require someone to actually throw him the ball so nix that idea.

The point is this thread was largely lighthearted and "what do we have to lose" until you came on and blew it calling people ridiculous and stupid.

So again Lighten up Francis. It isn't like most folks even want to win at this point.

AE should play qb, either start or split time, I dont care... The bottom line is he would be able to get 1st downs with his legs. So for the dude that says that AE isn't in the qb discussion for the Panthers future, thats true (probably), but our Defense is in the future, and keeping them on the field for 80% of the game isn't something any team wants to do.

Play AE.

umm i just befriended AEs teammate who played MLB for them and he claims AE us lost as a WR, he has tremendous timing as a QB and we have nothing to lose by starting him. AE told him WR is not the position for his skill sets and is still struggling to understand the position. I say start AE, he is the only QB with the talent required to avoid the first and second pass rusher on our team, the only QB that can make something out of a broken play, he has more upside at the position

Are you referring to DJ Smith? There were only 2 MLBs at App during AE's tenure.

    • Rewatching the 3rd period, on the go ahead, Blake kinda coasts by the goal until one guy dives and one guy slides too far, and the goalie is exposed.  On KK goal, Igor completely thought it was a pass. Even looking to his right instead of down. Slowest goal ever.
    • Cooper Rush is a veteran backup, isn't he?  He's not comparable to BY... And anyway, Washington has a pretty meh defense this year. Still a good game. HOU, well, that was on 55 attempts, lol.  Couple of decent games from him. We'll get to see him soon lol
