Hurney Must Go

Of course the duhlomme contract freed money for the year but he ended up getting more guaranteed money, a reward... Both Fox and Hurney knew he had an elbow problem in (2006) prior to the blow out and chose to ignore the most importand position in the game. Lets see who was available, oh yea! Drew Brees!....

My point is Hurney is not a good judge of talent and has no forethought predicting the needs of this team. He puts out fires that he has created....

You use Delhomme's elbow injury as a reason for Brees, but Brees as a FA in 2006 was coming off a major injury and surgery to his throwing arm.

No apology necessary. We just never really had any viable backup to duhlomme who could step in and win..it was always a bandaid. We had been taking flyers on QB's for awhile why not Brees. Matt Ryan and Shaub backed up Vick, Cassle backed up Brady, Rogers backed up Farve.... Who did Hurney have backing up Jakers?

This elbow thing is just one of my many indictments on Hurney because many think he is soooo great. Hes mediocre at best in my opinion.... Why did we keep Jarrett around for so long if he sucked that bad. What about Edwards... you see a pattern developing here?

Well, Brees wasn't really a flyer. I think it was a contract that averaged 10 million a year, and Ryan started immediately, but I see your point. I think the whole franchise got too high on Moore to be that guy. But how many teams are guilty of that? Schaub was a third round pick, and they only took him because of constant injury to Vick. Cassel was a seventh round pick I think. Not many teams around the league are prepared for their quarterback to go down. We should have had a better plan than Moore, but I will admit that at the time I thought it was going to work. I think Hurney is slightly above average, but he's made trades with future picks too often lately.

I don't think he is the major reason for this season. I would say lame duck coach and Richardson anticipating a lock out are. He's made some bad moves, but I in no way am afraid of us having him as the general manager in the future.

Hurney's the man. Dude drafts like a champ. He's a pro with the cap. He's done a good job overall finding low/mid level FA's to fill our needs. He's not great with some positions (QB, WR) but he dominates with other positions (O Line, Secondary, LB, RB). Some of the draft trades have been questionable, but those few mistakes don't erase all the good he has done. Most importantly, he learns from his mistakes and we can all see him getting better each year. He's our guy.

Also, people hating on the Otah trade/pick obviously don't understand how much of a difference maker he is when he's in the game. The Stewart/Otah draft instantly made us one of the best running teams in football. Next season when Otah is back on the field we'll be raping and pillaging in the ground game once again.

no I didn't. I don't really even care to discuss anything further if your just going to be childish. I've accepted that this season is a wash, as in when we lose it doesn't bother me like it would in 08 or 09 because it's obvious the team isn't playing well. Just have to wait until next season. Accepting failure isn't on anybody's mind.

ok, you can't say you "accept bad results" and then turn around and go "I don't accept failure" because they're pretty much the same thing

They signed jake to a contract extension to make cap space to sign the rookies we had drafted. That is why I said it was a necessarry evil.

Jake's play being bad wasn't huney's fault. Love that ignorance.

And then they made to decision to move on, and dumped the contract in a year that it would have no ill affects.

We are not in cap hell. Quite the opposite.

The NFL is about QBs and WRs. They are the stars, the players who fill the seats. The one constant of nearly every successful NFL team is QB. The next biggest constant in the winning equation are the Wide Recievers.

I see your points, but that is like going to a movie and coming out and saying, "The main character's sidekick and officer #2 was awesome! I recommend the academy award, even though the main characters and script sucked." We have a defensive-minded coach and our offensive coaches are weak. We depend on a former offensive lineman as our OC. Hurney was a sports writer. Where do we get our expertise concerning the 2 most dynamic positions in football? Scouts? Do we know their backgrounds?

Maybe it is me but I think that Gettis and LaFell are the guys we have been looking for and I hope Edwards turns into something. Add that we have Wright and Martin and still have Steve Smith and I think the cupboard is pretty full. Really all we are missing is the quarterback and hopefully that gets taken care of in a few months. I guess then Hurney will go from clueless to capable in a matter of 2 drafts.

Everyone here that is on Hurney's side, I want you to please watch the product that is on the field Sunday.

And don't tell me that JR was going cheap, and this be a cop out. Hurney has had many many years to put together a team of winners, and football players, and that certainly isn't what we have on the field.

Never had back to back winning seasons, and now a 1-15/2-14 season on your resume, and you should be gone, period.

What Panther teams that Hurney's been a part of, do you believe were prevented from a winning season because of a lack of talent ?

All of them since he has been hired.

Have we won the SB since he has been here as GM?

Have we had back to back winning seasons?

Are we considered a contender more times than not?

This is a league of "what have you done for me lately", and lately Hurney has been bottom of the barrel bad.
