True, newton is not a convicted felon, and yes, 89 does love to punch people in the face. However, I still don't think JR is going to draft Newton for the 'rumors' surrounding him. If his father is willing to try to negotiate pay with college programs, imagine what a pain in the ass he will be when he's in the NFL....maybe the new CBA will nix that, maybe not. IMO, newton's another Jamarcus Russell.

why is that? talent is talent and cam is no where near a jamarcus.remember he went thru some troubling times with leaving florida, and playing at a jr college. and to come back to the sec and poo on guys obviously somebody has the " it" factor.

to go along with when teams forced him to throw, he picked their asses apart.

Really? I should be banded? What's that? Check your grammar and spelling before you go 'banding' people. How's this, Cam Newton is the next Eric Crouch.

First of all I am not black and would be fine with Newton as our quarterback. I am conflicted about picking him over Luck if both come out. From what I have seen Newton looks better and I really think on a head to head contest would win hands down. On the other hand a lot of guys who know football think Luck would be a better NFL player. SO the question is who should we draft??

I suspect I would go with the mob and pick Luck. But I am one of the few who would be fine with Newton and would like Gruden to come in here as coach and develop a spread type offense.

Gruden prefers veterans over rookies for sure but that would be the deal. Come in and teach Luck or Newton how to play. Bring in a veteran to show them how it is done. If he doesn't like it, stay on Monday Night football or go elsewhere.

There is no better offensive mind than Gruden including Peyton.

To be honest, I wouldn't mind seeing Patrick Peterson as our 1st pick, but if we do go QB, I would rather Newton over Luck. Assuming he scores well on the Wonderlic anyway.

and after peterson flames out horribly like most LSU players we can just stick him at safety to replace godfrey

      Panthers vs Bucs matchup

      What are the matchups, stats and superlatives?   I think this will be a hard game. Bucs are a very balanced team on offense:  7th  in total yards per game, 7th in passing, 10th in rushing. Baker is having another career year even better than last year but despite missing his Godwin and Evans. Bucs defense is poor (29th) particularly passing defense, but we’re also depleted in our receiving with Coker and Sanders likely out. Running Chuba is key but their defense is better against the run. (16th) I think this is likely going to require us to score a lot of points to keep up and hopefully the home field advantage tips the scale in our favor. My other concern is our run defense and being able to stop their rookie study Bucky Irving who the Bucs have shifted more carries to recently and he’s averaging 5.4 ypc and knows how to get into the endzone with 5 TDs so far.

      This is nonsense and you know it. People will be happy when we are consistently and convincingly winning games against good teams. There are people in here talking down to others after losses and barely beating the terrible NY Giants. If you want to strut around here like only you are a real Panthers fan and rage pooing posts because your jimmies are rustled then hey good luck with all that. I hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving.
