We're not drafting Newton since we didn't give a thought to signing Vick. By now you people should know we don't go after people with questionable pasts, and newton certainly has one of those.

If Luck does not come out - I'd trade down and then take my chances with TJ Yates or the gamecock QB. be alot cheaper and just because you draft 'em high does not mean they will be good anyway.

Trade the #1 pick for some major picks and then pick up someone not high on the radar - sign a FA to bridge the gap and mentor a young QB.

Cam Newton has a lot of legit positives. Ones a guy like Clausen never did.

See this is where the great FO like the Colts separate themselves. In 1998 this would have been Manning/Leaf. Leaf was by far considered to have better physical attributes (ie Arm strength, Athleticism, ETC) but Manning had a better work ethic and was clean off the field. Now before you get me wrong I would love to get him if we got some blockbuster deal for the #1 spot, bu there is no way I would chose Newton over Luck.

Exactly. Newton has everything physically he needs to be an all-pro QB its whether he has the determination and work ethic. This is why time and again I would chose Luck over Newton I just think he wants it more and is willing to work his tail off to get it.

I wouldn't take Newton #1 and definitely wouldn't take him over Luck. All I'm saying is that the The Golden Calf of Bristol comparison isn't a good one and that Newton does throw well when asked to. He should go mid to late 1st, but you KNOW he's going to blow the combine up and elevate based on that.

OK, besides that terrible idea, who do you anticipate will want to trade up with us to get the first pick if Luck doesn't come out? And who will they be trading up to get?

Cam isn't a convicted felon. Cam has a dad issue. Pro game will likely be good for him and some space.

If his father is willing to try to negotiate pay with college programs, imagine what a pain in the ass he will be when he's in the NFL....maybe the new CBA will nix that, maybe not. IMO, newton's another Jamarcus Russell.

How in the hell do you have Cam and The Golden Calf of Bristol as the same type of QB? Cam is way more athletic than The Golden Calf of Bristol will ever be, plus he's a better passer than The Golden Calf of Bristol will ever be. Cam is a better passer than Young, as well, so I dont see that comparison either. A lot of people in here showing they really dont have a clue on Newton; especially with some of yalls evaluations of him. If you look at what kind of team we are, Cam would be an ideal fit. We run the ball, and our OL is not the best at pass blocking. The Ben Roethelisburger comparisons are pretty spot on, but a lot of you will continue to throw out other black QB's because, "Cam's black, lets compare him to other black QBS!!!!". The funniest comparison is the Newton and Russel one. Cam is nothing like Jamarcus.

Im on the Luck train, I'd rather have Luck here but if Luck was gone or didnt declare, I'd be perfectly fine with Newton.
