Those who want Cam Newton First overall...

If Luck does not come out - I'd trade down and then take my chances with TJ Yates or the gamecock QB. be alot cheaper and just because you draft 'em high does not mean they will be good anyway.

Marty Hurney if you are reading this, and want your fans to commit collective suicide (after they kill you), then listen to Davis83.

Cam Newton is lazy.

KT he clearly isn't lazy, but without having seen him myself it's hard to say if he is going to bring the determination it will take for him to succeed. I'm not saying he won't just that I don't know if he will.

Will he do what Tom Brady did to earn his start over the entrenched, popular, and rather skilled Drew Bledsoe? If we draft him I certainly hope so.

What are your thoughts on this? How well do you know him and his work ethic?

The draft is 4 months away. By then both Luck and Newton will have been dissected, bissected, put under a microscope, all of their coaches, friends, etc will be discussed but most coaches and talking heads will have interviewed them and they will have had their pro days and the combine. By then we will all have a much clearer idea of who the best guy is as well as where we will draft and what our options are at that point.

Right now there isn't enough information to know how other people factor in the draft or who will even declare. These raging debates are better served when more facts are known. But with little else to occupy everyone's time I really doubt anyone will heed this cautionary post.

I think if he were white, no one would worry about his work ethic or cerebral ablility. Or if he's gonna spend all our money on fried chicken and booze if we draft him. Just Panther fans being Panther fans. And not a single person will confront Rhys for it. He speaks for us. No one's asking these questions about Luck, and he's the guy who's actually lost a game. No one prepares harder than Cam Newton. No QB out there is more equipped to dealing with pressure and adversity than Cam Newton. I havent seen or heard anything to make me believe Andrew Luck will thrive in an adverse situation without Jim Harbrough leading him. How do we know this kid will be the same QB without him? We dont.

About as well as we know any rookie's personality and work ethic.

;) Fair enough I suppose, but it is an important subject and though we can only speculate for the most part it is still something that is likely worth considering and discussing.

Sorry bud but I am asking the same question about Luck. I know your opinion on certain issues and hope that we can leave them out of any further discussion we have on the subject.

As far as no one prepares harder than Cam Newton, I find that to be a very interesting statement. What leads you to believe that he prepares above and beyond anyone else in the game?

Do you have this same concern with Luck? If Luck comes out this year, he's going to get millions. He's stated in earlier interviews how he wants to get his degree and stay the whole 4 years in college. What's stopping him from doing that...the money. Everyone tells Luck he'd be a fool to pass out on the draft this year, and he'd be potentially losing millions. So, are you wondering whether or not Luck will give a poo once he gets paid?

Do you question this with Luck? I havent really heard anything about Lucks determination and work ethic, but for some reason, you choose to worry about Newtons work ethic. Seems kind of odd to me..

The same worries that majority of yall have in here for Cam could be the same for Lucks, but for some reason many on here ignore all that when it comes to Luck. Hmmm.....

Yeah, no idea why I would be concerned that it might all be about money for Newton.

Oh, wait, yeah it's because he's a dipshit who got caught in a pay-to-play scheme and has a history of making retarded decisions in his personal life.

Is this where you say something like "lol they all get paid cam just got caught"?

well, Luck simply isn't using raw athletic ability to run over and around people. Even white guys like The Golden Calf of Bristol....the fact a large part of what made them thrive in college simply does come up when talking about the NFL....b/c it doesn't work at the next level. Skins color has nothing to do with that logic.

also, no one is asking about Luck's cerebral ability b/c he is playing at Stanford and not the University of SC.

The fact he hasnt lost a game and plays better the bigger the game. He's the only QB coming out that you can say that about.

If you want certain things to stay out of this thread Kral, you need to encourage our fellow Panther fans to leave the 1930s stereotypes alone. Panther fans will be Panther fans.

Cam Newton is lazy.

*Sigh* That's not what I'm saying.

I'm saying that the allegations about his academics at Florida, about the stolen laptop, about the Auburn/Cecil shopping fiasco, etc. makes me question his maturity.

Vick is a prime example. I think most Panther fans would agree, me included, that Vick is a changed man and would love to have him here. He's matured, taken his career in the NFL more seriously, and it shows on the field. Given the circumstances I doubt Cam is mature enough at this point to be an NFL QB.

You can't just expect Newton to be the same player in the NFL as he is in college.

We're ALL awed and extremely impressed with what he has done on the field at Auburn. He is a rare physical talent and all these highlights of him running around dodging tackles and then heaving it 40 yards down field ARE amazing. But that is not going to translate to the NFL smoothly, and he will have to be motivated to change his game and bend his talent to NFL QBing.

You can watch your highlights and swear up and down he's going to be great, and you may be right, but I see him as a risk-reward type of pick because I question his maturity.
