New HC, new OC, new offensive system, new QB... Smitty only has so many years left in the league, don't blame him for not wanting to wait for all these new pieces to work themselves out, especially when there's no guarantee they even will at all.

Maybe Smitty is putting the blame where it belongs, in JR's lap. JR sacrificed a season of his career over money, so I don't think it matters who the coach is, he wants away from JR and I can't say I blame him.

The only people who know what happened during this meeting are JR and Smitty. Maybe Smith just wanted to tell JR how inadequate Clausen is. Perhaps Smitty was trying to get reassurance from JR that they would be upgrading the QB position in the offseason, whether it be with Luck or via FA....

The assumption is that everyone would want him or that we could get a decent price for him. To many folks he is a bad apple and troublemaker given his problems along the way. Plus he will be 32 in May meaning he is mostly over the hill and has not had a pro bowl year since 2008.

Not sure he is very tradeable at this point.
