Fox: Clausen will remain Panthers QB

49ers - Smith duo

Seahawks - Hasselbeck

Cards - Anderson

Browns - Delhomme

Bills - anybody's guess

Most of those teams could have used an upgrade, but decided against Clausen and McCoy early on.

You are kidding....right?

Hasselbeck has been injured over the past few seasons and is on the significant downside of his career.

Anderson...are you joking?

Delhomme....old, washed up, stop-gap.....not to mention that they took McCoy one round later.

Bills....have not had a legit QB for years

Ryan Fitzpatrick is having a pretty good year. His passer rating is 85 and he has 21 TDs versus 11 Ints. I would take his numbers in a heartbeat. He is making the Bills competitive this year.

I see what your saying P55 but winning 3 games is not being competitive.

Competitive is being in the game and having a chance to win. Buffalo is averaging almost 20 points a game which gives them a shot. Their problem is that they are giving up 26 points a game.

Given we are scoring less than 13 points a game I would take their 20 points in a hearbeat.

Offensively they are ranked 23rd right behind Tampa. Remember I didn't say they had a good offense, I said with Fitzpatrick they were competitive. 4 of their losses were by 3 or less.

Funny though...2 of the 4 beat us, and looked decent in doing so.

true nobody can compare to our horrendous offense. Ive watched a couple buffalo games and it was just a mediocre offense but nothing compared to the clausen express.

I really think if we had Fitzpatrick this year with our running game and defense we would be much closer to .500 versus 1-12.

This is Fox's biggest f**k you to the organization.

He is effectively going to f**k up Jimmy (who is already shell-shocked and gun shy) forever.

He knows that Luck probably only comes out if a new CBA is signed. Can't afford to pass on Luck so that leaves us with a once again unknown at QB, no second rounder, and an OL and a DL that needs a ton of work.

Clausen has had many times that he could make plays, but didn't. If he had a wide open guy with no one around for ten yards he would normally miss the throw. How anyone thinks he is "ruined" is beyond me. He never had anything to ruin.

No assurrance that Luck would be the answer, but has to be better than Clausen.

Not the only reason, but a consideration. These guys don't get paid if there is no football, and owners aren't going to hand out 25 mill + in signing bonus to rookies until they know there will be games.
but they'll have spots on rosters. what are they risking if they don't try and secure those spots? they'll get paid at some point. better to secure that roster spot without the chance of getting injured or falling production for some reason than to risk another year when you already have that #1 overall or at least top 3 pick wrapped up.

Also despite the other poster saying owners won't pay out signing bonuses. Some will and so some of those Rookies will still be getting a big payday.

The CBA will be signed before training camp. In fact I suspect unless 1 side or the other plays hardball and walks away, I suspect the CBA will be done by the draft. There is too much money to be lost by holding out. I suspect that with an 18 game season it won't be hard to generate more revenue while giving the players no less than they have gotten in the past.

Draft picks don't get paid until they get signed which with a rookie cap will be very easy to do this year.

agreed. a new CBA will be signed. it might not be until TC starts, but it will happen. contracts usually aren't taken care of for the first round picks until well into TC anyway, but a lot of that has to do with seeing how much others are getting and trying to see how much they can get away with. if there is a ceiling in place, negotiations will be almost non-existent. there will also be rush to get deals done on both sides.

one thing to consider...with a rookie cap in place, think of how much money there will be left over to take care of re-signing guys we want to keep around and FAs. hurney will have us back close to the cap one way or another.
