Sorry if this repeats. I tried reading this for content and got tired of reading perspective stand up comics writing about corn in their turds. Clever. Anyhow, I think TD finds no place in the 3-4 when healthy. I think we are not well equipped to switch, that several key additions will be lost. I think the following players will play OLB: Brown, Hardy, Norwood, Jason Williams. Inside LB: Connor, Beason, Jamar Williams, possibly Nic Harris. DE: (This is where I struggle to find talent) Johnson, Brayton, Hayden, Landri and I am not sure about the DT from Temple. NT: Nobody, but Ed Johnson for now.

This is one thing I was curious about when I was thinking about us possibly having to make the shift. Would Davis be completely left out as a versatile outside linebacker in a 4-3, or would he be a Bart Scott type of versatile player that does a number of things in certain systems (rush the passer, play the run, coverage, etc.). I honestly don't know what the differences are between the personnel required in various styles of the 3-4 defense.

We dont have the personnel to even think about a 3-4. We have undersized speedy linebackers, no nose tackle, no true OLBs unless you're thinking that CJ and Norwood can drop back into zone which neither are fluid enough to. Tyler Brayton would probably be the only one to benefit

Running a 3-4 isn't the answer for this team unless there was a major retooling. What people like about the 3-4 is the aggressive blitzing features. You can do that with a 4-3 as well just by adopting a Philly style attacking defense with more man under. That would utilize the same folks we have and provide the pressure and aggressive style we have lacked for years.

I don't mind the 3-4, but at this point our defense isn't the problem. Clearly we need to focus our attention on the offense. Trying to fix our offense will be hard enough, but compounding that with a new defensive scheme would not be smart. Our defense is not the reason we are losing. Also, under the 3-4 you need a really big tackle to anchor the middle and stop the run. This is critical to a 3-4 and I don't know who has the talent to clog the middle.

I don't prefer the 4-3 v. a 3-4. At the end of the day, all offenses know the weaknesses of each kind of defense and how to exploit. It is more important to EXECUTE at whatever defense you run. That is most important. Guys that aren't playing well in a 4-3 will not necessarily become pro bowlers because you put them in a 3-4.

We do not have the personnel for this. The only way this could happen would be if we mimicked what Belichick did when he took over the Patriots and found the right journeyman players for our new system. The stars of our team would no longer fit in.

It isn't likely that this change would happen. Especially in a year.

Also Hardy isn't anything at all like a DE in a 3-4. What are you talking about panthers34?
