How does this sound?

ItsNotGonnaBeAlright

Haven't been around, so I don't know what possibilities have been talked to death around here in the boredom until the offseason. But this one crossed my head today and I thought I'd see if held any water.

If we wind up with the #1 overall pick, how about trading to Denver for the #6 overall and one of their two 2nd round picks (probably #49 overall). We'd lose out on Luck, but it gives us more options in rebuilding. Denver gets Luck, so that's a win for them and their new coaching staff.

I doubt it would happen, but its fun to guess.

What say ye to my insanity?

I would like to point out though, that I've thought about this scenario - What if Luck doesn't come out (which I think he will) and we don't take Newton...

What if we traded down and took Patrick Peterson or Prince Amukamara (I prefer Peterson) - the CB and picked up some extra picks along the way. Imagine Peterson, Gamble, and Munnerlyn as our top 3 CBs next year. We should get 2,000 coverage sacks.

Although I want the Luck scenario to pan out first and foremost. But, if we can't/don't get Luck or Newton, this wouldn't be a bad alternative scenario IMO

There's always talk about trading the #1 overall. I can't see us doing so unless its to a team with an extra 2nd rounder to burn and a need at QB. That gives us New England and Denver as potential trading partners. Orton is probably on the outs, and a new coach in Denver won't show The Golden Calf of Bristol any favors. Hence my reasoning for picking them. Hell, we could probably get both second rounders and a couple of other future picks for the prospect of drafting Luck.

I agree with the idea that you don't trade away the chance to pick up a franchise QB. But we're gonna see plenty of this crap until the draft, might as well start it here.
