2011 NFL Draft Prospects Thread

I'm not that up on college players, but I've been looking at a few today and was wondering what people thought of the NCAA FBS pass defense leader Cliff Harris. Is he a first rounder? If not what round would you project? Do you think he will be a good DB in the NFL?

He's a true sophmore so he will not be eligible until next year. Harris is a playmaking ball hawk in the secondary. He also is a great punt returner. I'm sure he'll be a 1st-2nd round prospect next year.

The general consensus is that our team needs are QB,OL,DL,CB...hell pretty much every position can use an upgrade. Here's a list of prospects at their respective positions that should be available in the 1st & most likely the 3rd and on.

QB- Andrew Luck

WR- AJ Green, Leonard Hankerson, Austin Pettis, DeVier Posey, Titus Young, Matt Szczur, Dwayne Harris, Greg Little, Jerrel Jernigan

TE- Lance Kendricks, DJ Williams

OG- Marcus Cannon, Benjamin Ijalana, John Moffitt

OT- Gabe Carimi, Darius Morris, Joseph Barksdale, Demarcus Love

DE- Da'Quan Bowers, Sam Acho, Pernell McPhee, Greg Romeus, Jabaal Sheard

DT- Marcell Dareus, Nick Fairley, Jared Crick, Christian Ballard, Marvin Austin, Sione Fua, Jerrell Powe, Kendrick Ellis

LB- Mason Foster, Mark Herzlich

CB- Patrick Peterson, Prince Awukamara, Aaron Williams, Jimmy Smith, Jalil Brown, Rashad Carmichael, Davon House

S- Jeron Johnson, Will Hill, Ahmad Black, Chris Culliver, Nate Williams, Tejay Johnson

Oh sorry I didn't realize that he was a true sophomore (I'm not that up on the college game). Your description makes him sound like someone worth pursuing if we get the chance though. He would project out to be a safety correct?

Actually he's a CB and has the potential to be a star. Another name to keep a close eye on is Brandon Harris from the U. He's a junior and hasn't decided whether he is going to declare or not. But if he's somehow available in the 2nd, I would have no problem trading up to grab him. Has the makings of a shutdown corner.

Say we take Luck and since we don't have a pick till #65 I think we go DT, who is the best mid round DT? Ive seen some people say Jarvis Jenkins out of Clemson and Sione Fua out of Stanford. Who else would be a good pick here if we go the DT route?

I doubt Jarvis Jenkins will be available in the 3rd. He has had a solid year and is incredibly athletic. Sione Fua is a good choice in the 3rd round. More of a NT though. Jerell Powe is another good NT whose draft stock has dropped due to him being asked to take on more of a penetrator role when that isn't his strong point. Kendrick Ellis is also a mammoth NT that can take up multiple blockers.

As for penetrators, Drake Nevis wreaks havoc in the opponents backfield but size might be an issue. Possibile he's available in the 3rd. Jurrell Casey might slip into the 3rd as well. One guy that I like is Muhammed Wilkerson.

Taken from another post I made in the Panther's forum.

2011 Nfl Draft Wish List:

Andrew Luck

DT/G/CB

Anyone care to give me some names of quality DTs, Guards, and Corners that could be available in the middle rounds? Haven't been watching too many college football games, just the big ones. Hurney has found some gems here and there in the later rounds and without a second, he's going to have to be spot on because we are hurting in those positions with an off-season such as this looming.

Connor, Munnerlyn, Hardy, Anderson, Johnson are all going to be central to success in the future hopefully. I'd love to throw a couple more draft steals in there with a DT, G, and CB from this draft.

Go Panthers!

I have been keeping an out for a 3-4 NT just in case our new HC wants to go that route and Fua is one of my Favs. I also like Jenkins as well but I see him as a better fit in the 4-3.

A wr that everyone needs to check out is Jerrel Jernigan outta Troy. Kid is straight up playmaker but would probably be a slot receiver in the NFL but he could be excellent there. Best YAC receiver I have seen in a while the guy breaks more tackles then any WR (at least at his size I 5'9" 190) I believe I have ever seen. Supposedly ran a 4.28 at his JR pro day.

If we lose Dwill through not resigning or a trade a guy we need to keep an eye on late is Allen Bradford outta USC. Lots of potential if he can stay healthy he is a big bruiser back (5'11" 235) with deceptive speed. Would make an outstanding Short/Goalline back.

Jarvis Jenkins is a good DT if he slips into the 3rd. Jerrell Powe would be that run stuffing presence we've been lacking in the interior. So would Sione Fua. Marvin Austin if you believe he can live up to his potential. I like Muhammad Wilkerson but he hasn't played against the highest competition. Kendrick Ellis is also full of potential.

There's a slight change Mike Pouncey might be available. He's had a less than impressive year and OG aren't held in high regards in the draft. Benjamin Ijalana is a sleeper who would be available. Marcus Cannon would be a good pickup in the 3rd round. John Moffitt is an option although I've heard he's a bit soft. Demarcus Love is a versatile OL prospect who is intriguing too.

Aaron Williams has had a bad year but so did Texas as a whole. If he declares he might fall into the 3rd. His counterpart Curtis Brown might be available too. Brandon Burton is a solid CB. Ras-I Dowling was injured so he might slip. But might be a candidate to be moved to safety. Korey Lindsey is a CB who hasn't gotten alot of press but is solid.
