MMQB - Peter King on State of the Panthers

No offense to you, intended at all as I like your posts, but, Peter King is a pretty respected sports writer and most of his articles are very fair.

He doesn't pretend to know everything and will admit when he is wrong, like predicting the Panthers to be a dark horse this year.

Maybe he has a different perspective on the outside looking in.

From what I hear, sitting in the stadium in my section week in and week out, no no name defensive coordinator or offensive coordinator is going to put people back in the seats for a long long time. There has been a basic trust broken between the people who pay every year and the person who provides and that, is not a good situation.

I'm just someone else with an opinion. I believe Peter King is right this time.

Yeah, nothing personal. That's why I said from here on out.

I just personally hate Peter King's writing. I think it's lazy, generally pointless if not altogether unusable, and I can't remember the last time I read something by him and went "I'm happy I read that." I think someone with his access and press credentials should be able to write things that are relevant, interesting or insightful. He rarely meets any of those criteria. He relies on really vapid personal anecdotes and notes about things that if someone told me in real life I would stare at them for a few seconds and then walk away silently.

I think anyone with even a passing understanding of the 2010 Panthers know that things are not good. But it would have taken him literally four seconds to learn that Panthers PSL owners don't have a choice to "re-up" next year just because they're upset. Again, lazy writing. He's just making shit up and hoping people take it as gospel. How is our situation worse than Atlanta's was when they hired Smith?

At $200 per ticket most of the club 3 psls will be turned in. The upper deck psls are pretty much in the same boat. Not worth enough to keep.

Yeah, Club 3's started at $99 as I recall. And yes Club PSL's do re-up. I've renewed my lease twice, and that's why my expiring one is going up so much. A reasonable person will know when to cut their losses. I have other PSL's in the stadium, and know enough people to get whatever I want far below season ticket prices.

Tickets can be had for ANY game (ANY season) far below face. I sold clubs yesterday for $40.

For that reason, I think above and beyond any consideration is the CBA. I say it affects us more than any other team, since we are the franchise that exploited -beyond any other team- the uncapped year for the purpose of eliminating all top heavy veteran contracts. It was Richardson's gamble that the owners would stand firm through a lockout. If he's right, and they do, we will reap many benefits from his strategy. If the Big Cat was wrong, and the majority of owners cave in for the sake of business as usual, the Panthers franchise will lose more than the veterans we had, and this year's losses.

The only big contract we eliminated was Delhomme, and he still counted against this years cap.

no one knows how much Richardson is willing to pay but the man himself. for some reason, because he was cheap this season, he has always been cheap during his tenure, which is a flat out lie (some people actual run w/ that garbage). I don't know what hes going to do, and I won't pretend like I do. I do know that if he wants to win, he fork out some cash. Whether or not he does it is what we will all find out in a couple of months.

There were reports on the radio this morning that Luck would stay if Harbaugh stays. That may mean that Luck/Harbaugh may have to be a package deal in order for Luck to come out this year.

That strategy may not work out well for those two next year though they may be looking at the Bills or worse. Carolina is actually still an attractive team. Wish us Luck.
