If Luck doesn't come out, then I'm of the opinion that we should try to trade down and get a high 2nd round pick back. It will be much easier to trade out of the 1st or 2nd overall pick this year with a rookie pay scale on the horizon.

You are prolly right. I think we all agree that the value of the first overall pick would decline tremendously.

However, you don't reach the top of the mountain and complain about the view. There will be an uncertain situation at Stanford as well. Take the money when it is at its highest point. 2012 money will not be higher than 2011 money. An injury, bad season, etc could cost him millions. Do I risk millions (even with the rookie cap) to play 13 more college games? Heck no.

Even if I sit out for a year, it gives me time to learn the playbook, work on fundamentals, etc. I would say that the only scenario that would keep Luck from declaring is the following: Cincinnati gets the first pick, Harbaugh stays at Stanford, and the CBA talks stall out and it looks as though a lengthy holdout/lockout looms. Even then I am not sure he would return to Stanford.

You never know, there are guys teams fall in love with and will trade everything to get them (see The Golden Calf of Bristol as the latest example).

probably for the best that it's slow because the only thing to talk about now is the upcoming draft and this place is at its worst when:

A - the draft is coming up (hey guys NC State fan here but i really think we should take McLendon in the first)

B - there's a charlotte product in draft (guys maybe we can trade back into the first and grab chris leak?) (this really was a key talking point btw)

C - not many people on here watch a LOT of college football outside their market so you get people baselessly saying they think TJ Yates will be better than Andrew Luck because he has "it" (then leave the thread) or just want the black QB.

luckily my Alma Mater didn't have a football team or else I'd be saying stupid poo constantly like Squirrel telling everyone for months that pat white was going to set the league on fire.
