Clausen not part of the team...

This did not look like what I saw, or the situation Kurb is talking about. I never saw Jimmy open his mouth and if he did, I doubt you would've been able to hear it because he wouldn't have been very loud. Could've been a different time though...

And I don't doubt that what you're saying could've happened at sometime during the game - but if it did, I have no idea how Clausen made it out of that game without his face being adjusted.

Because Smith only hits people who are sitting or kneeling and looking the other way.

I considered that as well, but wasn't in the mood to crack on him right now, lol. But, Jimmy better not take a knee anytime soon.

At least, we don't have to worry about that happening on the field.

The coach can make you a starter. Your teammates are the ones that make you a leader.

Which is exactly why it is easier said than done when money and incentives are on the line. If Clausen isn't producing for his teammates, how do you think they're gonna "like" him?

Seemingly reminiscent of a few years back when the players didn't seem to produce well for David Carr but played much better under Testaverde and Moore. Having good leadership ability is a prerequisite for being a good QB. Clausen just doesn't have that natural ability it would appear.

He really hasnt given us ANYTHING on which we can back him. All he's had to do was show us a little something, give us a little hope for the future but hasnt given us that. Even with the "poo situation", he's had opportunities to show us something, some potential; he just hasnt. Dude just doesnt look like a NFL QB. I know many of us are tired of the mediocre/horrible QB play, we want a real QB. We're going to have to have one if we want to compete in this division. Jimmy aint gonna cut it. Hopefully, we get Luck or Newton

Newton reminds me a lot of Vince Young. And Vince Young is struggling in the NFL.

The most disappointing thing for me is that the entire fan base has given up on a rookie thrust into a poo situation.

That said, I should have expected that given the number of empty seats today.

I understand your point but he hasn't given any glimmer of hope that he is the guy.

This is something I worried about when we took him.

I blame his parents and family for not letting him develop socially and handicapping him when it comes to this department. It happens quite often with rich kids, they think money makes people like them. His parents have been able to buy everything for him since he was a kid including good a good football team and even friends (had something like 4-6 players living with him in HS). Jimmy hasn't had to make friends outside of football and most people have only liked him due to football. At Notre Dame this was true as well but there were also people that didn't like him there.

Now he comes to the NFL and football isn't life anymore, it's not about the game, it's about more than that. It's a job, it's a way to put food on the table for their families, it's a way for them to not have to work a 9-5. Many of these guys come from backgrounds where football isn't guaranteed, to Jimmy it is. Jimmy can't rely on football to bring them closer together because they aren't kids anymore, they are grown men that need to perform well to keep a paycheck coming and he is contributing to them all looking bad. If he fails here he can go back to his HS where both his brothers coach and make a 6 figure salary, other guys don't have that fallback.

I think he's learning the hard way that just because you are the QB doesn't automatically make people like you, like it did in HS and college.

I recall something similar being posted by somebody who lived in the ND area. They mentioned that Clausen's life is football and he severely lacks in social skills. Scouting reports said the same thing. In fact, scouting reports said this:

Clausen entered his junior year with high expectations. He made huge strides from his freshman to sophomore year. The quarterback has been no stranger to high expectations. He has been known as a "once in a generation" talent, and the "LeBron James of football," as early as his freshmen year in high school. As a junior, he improved in every statistical category, proving almost unstoppable, regularly carving up opposing defenses.

That is why I haven't bought into Andrew Luck yet, because there was so much about Clausen when he was coming out.

The only thing that's given me some kind of optimism is that Clausen did horrendous his Freshman year at Notre Dame, then improved dramatically during his sophomore and junior seasons. If that's still the case, then the training camp competition for QB just got a bit more interesting.

Another thing about Clausen that is bothering me is that it seems that he throws to people he personally likes. When Smitty gets the ball, it's almost as if the coaches said, "Hey kid, look for Smitty" before hand so that he had to
