It's weird that two things that were widely recognised on virtually every single draft analyst and now the complete opposite on the huddle.

1. His throwing motion was regarding as quick and only when he tries to throw it with real power did he need to wind up

2. His supporting cast (receivers) were generally below average at college level and his OLine was even worse

However now those two main things people were commenting on are the complete opposite...

What the hell are you talking about? Golden Tate below average? Michael Floyd below average? Kyle Rudolph below average?

I don't understand the label of "Clausen apologist" being applied to people who are dispersing blame instead of letting it all fall on the shoulders of a rookie whom the coaching staff made absolutely no attempt to adapt their gameplan to. :/

It's a bit childish, granted I'm sure some of Clausen's supporters are quick to insult as well. Is this where we put labels on everybody because of their opinions on the QB position? Clausen apologists, Clausen anal-ists, and Clausen apatheticists?

At least Clausen played well when he had those targets. Palmer has options that other QBs would kill for and he still can't hit them.

I'm still waiting for training camp. I expect rookies to play poorly. They're boys out there against men still trying to learn what to do. Whatever happens in training camp is the only thing we can really wait on for the QB position next season.

Clausen is the QB though, and if people want the #1 pick leave him in. If people want him to develop, leave him in. If people want him to get killed, leave him in. Long and the short of it is that Clausen is going to be taking the snaps. We can either sit and bitch about it, try and be supportive, or go watch other teams with efficient offenses.

I'd highly recommend not doing the later. When I went to the Falcons/Packers game, it was like walking into Santa's workshop. Omg completed passes? Oline protection? Passing routes that had players being dispersed all over the field instead of somewhere 15yds down on 3rd & forever with the blitz coming!? MADNESS!

bad habits by a QB make an OL look worse. Jimmy did the same things in college he is doing now. Scrambling away and making the OL look horrific.

his recievers weren't below average......he wasn't playing in the SEC. The ND recieving talent was much better than the defenders they faced.

He wasn't dispersing blame, he was telling outright lies for the sole purpose of defending Jimmy. You won't be able to find anyone with half a brain that thinks the Notre Dame receivers were below average. Golden Tate 2nd rounder and Michael Floyd and Kyle Rudolph will both be in the NFL. How is that below average?

I wasn't discarding what he said about the options he had at ND. Malcom Floyd, Golden Tate, and Kyle Rudolph were great college football players. Golden Tate being a 2nd rounder has absolutely zero to do with how he's going to do in the NFL, as we can see with Clausen.

My main concern was the senseless labeling over a difference of opinion. It's pretty disgusting to see people snorting at those who haven't thrown Clausen to the wolves and assuming that they're so much more informed.

What makes it even worse is when those same people start talking about people's draft positions (not in your case in particular, but more so in the broader sense) as if they really matter. The draft is a gamble. The first couple of rounds you're playing a few scratch and wins, and later on you start playing Powerball. Sure the odds are better early on, but there's still nothing guaranteed.

It just seems completely, totally illogical for people that just hate Clausen (let's be honest, that's what it is. Hatred. Pure, ugly hatred) to sit there and clamor on and on about Andrew Luck because of what scouts said, when the scouts were singing praises of Clausen last year too. They can go on and say what they want about Luck's physical traits and what they've seen him do in college, but again: College success does NOT translate to NFL success. A player's draft position has absolutely zero to do with how he will turn out in the NFL. That's another thing that kills me about people clamoring on and on about Hurney trading picks (don't get me wrong, they're definitely bad on paper) but how in the world can they assume that we would've traded the "right" player with those picks? It's all guess work. The draft is the weather report for the NFL, and scouts are nothing more than overglorified weather men.
