Bengals closing in on the #1 pick

Also, apparently one of the mods deleted/merged my thread about tiebreakers for the #1 pick if we finish with the same record as another team...

But, without looking, say we somehow got another win before the end of the season and the Bengals lose out... Don't we still get the # 1 pick because our schedule has been tougher (I'm guessing this b/c our division is tougher overall)?

Tougher schedule means you're the better team. WORST team gets the #1 pick.

Sorry, I was thinking like a winner there... I had no right, forgot I was a Panther fan for a second, lol.

So, to be clear... The Bengals have played less tougher opponents overall, so they would get the #1 over us?

With records tied, at this point, yes (by one tenth of a point).

As far as how it works, losing to the Falcons and Saints isn't so bad. Losing to the Browns and Bengals means you suck.

they play cleveland at home next week which i suspect they will win. cleveland has not been lights out against bad teams. they have played bad teams close, see carolina, buffalo, and miami.

then they play san diego at home which they could win as san diego is not great on the road. they are .500 on the road. san diego will be playing for a playoff spot but it is a road game and no road games are easy.

then they play baltimore at baltimore in baltimore who will not be resting anyone and will be playing for a playoff spot. cinci gets killed in this one.

We will play arizona at home. zona is terrible at traveling but we suck so this is a coin flip.

then we play pittsburg who is not laying down because they are still fighting for a division title.

last we have atlanta in atlanta. we have a chance here because if they win next week i bet they sit most of team for last game.

so far i think we will win one of our last 3. i think cinci wins one of their last 3 and we still get the #1. lets hope carson palmer wakes up.

This is ridiculous. The head-to-head match up should be the thing that determines who gets the first pick. And besides that, the Panthers should've been the one who played the tougher schedule. If you eliminate us, the NFC south is the toughest division in all the NFL. (All three teams will have over 10 wins, and Atlanta looks to have at least 13 wins) Just on division alone, we should have the tougher schedule.

It is likely we will lose the rest of our games (John Skelton won't make the same mistakes Anderson would), but even if the Bengals and Panthers are tied at the end of the season, we should have the SOS margin in our favor.

Please read thru the thread.... the team with the worst SOS is the weaker team and gets the number one pick...

Also this thread is very misleading because the Bengals and Panthers SOS is basically identical at this point, and could fall either way.... may even end up being a tie and come down to a coin flip.

We do have the tougher schedule, which is why they get the #1 pick if we both end 2-14. However, next week is looking good considering Arizona currently has more points than we've scored all season

I don't know about that, Arizona has a bunch of points but we actually look better most games than the Broncos do right now =(
